In many popular comics/superhero storylines, the main hero loses their power at some point...for a semi-long period spanning a few issues or more. Do you think that this can happen to Buffy? I see it happening at some point.
She did lose her powers for one episode, but I'm talking about for maybe three or four issues. It's happened to many of the X-Men characters, including mainstays Cyclops, Storm, and Rogue (come to mind). Even the great Superman has lost his power at some point. I think it would be interesting to say the least! What do you think? In a world full of slayers, how would Buffy cope NOT being in on it anymore?

I think it could happen. Maybe theres a slayer ill-nes that renders a slayers power for a time and maybe theres a chance they would never get the power back. So back in the day maybe the watcher would have to kill his slayer in order for the line to move on.......

When magic goes away (if she survives) she'll be powerless. It's possible that she may cease to exist, since she was resurrected by magic and is no longer technically human.

I have to disagree though. Although she isn't the same as she was before, I think she is still human. She was given new life by a spell, but it is not keeping her alive. Similar to how someone who gets revived by a defibrillator (electric charge). The device can bring them back if their heart has stopped beating...but they don't die if you demolish the machine. I just don't think magic is what is keeping her alive. Warren, yes. Buffy, no.

That would be cool to see how she would react not being in the slayer crowd now that there is one. We had "Helpless" which was a great episode!

It would make a good episode but an incredibly boring comic book.

Interesting idea! I think she would take it horribly. People think she's some sort of Queen, but if she lost her powers... She'd be nothing but another victim needing a Slayer's protection.

For me, that's one of the most interesting things about where Buffy's going with these comics: at the end of season seven, she seemed to be happy that she was no longer 'alone' as the Slayer, that could go off and have something of a normal life away from the pressures of saving the world every couple of weeks. But she still has enormous ammounts of pressure on her, leading an army, and - although she never asked for it - part of her seems to be revelling in it. She's also being extremely reckless, if you ask me, and she'll get hers eventually, as everyone does in the Buffyverse... MB x

I don't think she'd handle it well. In "Helpless" she came through in the end, but she was lost for awhile there. And as much as I love Buffy, she does have some sort of god complex. Remember when everyone turned on her in S7? She just... shut down. When she's not in charge, her life loses meaning.

Although in that ep in S7 where everyone turned on her, after shutting down she got right back up and got the scythe.
It would be boring if she were revving no matter what. Joss likes to see his characters fall, and revel in how they overcome the obstacle.
That said, I don't see Buffy losing her powers for any extended period of time in the comics. It would be pretty boring... Joss would have to point our attention elsewhere because boo-hoo buffy gets old after a while.

I think we will see a powerless Buffy sometime. It would be interesting if the mystery vampires de-activate the slayers somehow...and they all lose their powers except for Faith! Wouldn't that be a twist? I wonder how Buffy would react? Would she be hurt? Mad? Betrayed? Hate Faith? I wonder...

give faith a issue like an episode of '24' where is has to defeat the bad guys within the time limit to undo the anti slayers spell and restore their power before its lost forever and make buffy hand over the scythe as then it will truely belong to her, faith should get more scythe action or at least get her cool hunting knife back, where did that go? I was sure Giles was going to give her that to kill Gigi.
