My 18th birthday is coming up and I don't know what to do to celebrate. It will be on April 9th which is on a Friday this year, which means I can make the fun last all weekend if I needed to. Money is a bit of an issue, so something under a grand total of $300. Still, I wanna do something special. For the past several years I haven't done anything at all to celebrate my birthday and wanted to do something this year to make up for it. Especially since I turn 18.
As bad as it sounds, I wasn't really raised to know how to have fun, so any suggestions would be a major help to me.

Is there anything you want to do that you haven't been able to? You could go shopping somewhere, see a movie, take a trip... Order spike figurines. Anything. Maybe since you're 18, do something you can only do now that you're eighteen. My birthday is the 4th and I'm thinking of just buying myself a few things I want and chilling with my mom.

Happy early birthday! My 17th is on 28th, just a few weeks after yours.
So, ideas. Why don't we start with the stuff you like?
Are you the kind whose ideal day is sitting around with a few close friends and your family or would you rather be out and about?
If you just want a party at home, maybe it could be themed or something? I heard girls like that sort of thing... Or something. You could have a Buffy party!
I know, I know. I have terrible ideas...

willowsummers: There's nothing I can really think of. That's where the not really knowing how to have fun thing gets in my way. =P
Skytteflunkan33: I'd like to go somewhere with a few friends, but I don't know where we can go. There's a Dave&Busters (Like Chuck E. Cheese for 18+) in Nashville, about 3 hours away, but we'd need a way to get there and probably a place to say. =/

That's a good idea. Maybe some of your friends could help you figure out a way to stay somewhere while you go to Nashville. Or maybe there is some place closer to home?

Do you or any of your friends have a car and / or license? Maybe you could borrow your parent's or other family member's car? It is your birthday, after all.
As for a place to stay... Could you afford a motel room for a night or two? Depending on how many friends you have, maybe you could just get one or two rooms and it'd be like a giant sleep over!

willowsummers: There's nothing cool to do in Knoxville. I don't know why people ever come to live here. I was thinking of just getting everyone together and just walk around downtown all night, but that sounds lame. Eric: I don't have my liscense. I'm a bit of a carphobic, like Buffy. We're unmixy things. Only three of my friends do have liscences, but 2 are unable to drive that far away and the other one flat out won't do it. >.<

Would it be terribly lame if one of your parents went? An older sister? Brother?

Would it be terribly lame if one of your parents went? An older sister? Brother? It would be extremely lame because my parents are uptight. My older brother has a family and won't be able to do it.

I remember right when my best friend turned 18 a few years back, she went straight to a smoke shop to buy a pack of cigarettes (she doesn't smoke)...and then after that went to an adult x-rated store and looked around (she doesn't care for that stuff....well so she says lol)....but anyways, the point of the story is, is that she went and did all the things that was forbidden to her before.....so you can always do that just for the heck of it and because you can!

^^ where do you live at so i can move over there? lol He's an Australian. Pretty much every English speaking country's drinking age is 18, 'cept for the U.S.. It be much easier going to Canada than Australia. ;)

Thanks EWR. Those were some really good suggestions. Dollywood is a nearby themepark that we could try, depending on how expensive the one day passes are. Most of us are pretty broke, so the movies are a strech, but not impossible. I'll think more on those. ^^

hm.. My 18th I was in Newport, RI. I bought my smokes (I do smoke) and I hung out in the park and people watched. I brought my note book and I got some amazing storys out of it. One of them helped me win an award from the State Of Connecticut. You could just have a bunch of you friends over and do a movie marathon. (terminator, child's play, nightmare on elm street, mel brooks movies, molly ringwald movies, weird 80's movies such as batteries not included 1 and 2, gremlins, goonies, Comic book movies, All the super mans and batman, x-men spiderman hulk.....)
