Now that we're gearing up for the finale arc, what's been your favorite arc to date? I voted for 'A Beautiful Sunset.' This issue has always felt the closest to an episode, IMO. After finishing it, I knew it was better than the previous stories. Unfortunately, few of the issues were even close to this quality. In order:1. Time of Your Life2. A Beautiful Sunset3. Turbulence4. After These Messages... We'll Be Right Back!5. No Future For You6. The Long Way Home7. Retreat8. Wolves at the Gate9. Anywhere by Here10. The Chain11. Twilight12. Predators and PreyEDIT- I changed my vote to 'Time of Your Life'. A reread made me remember how much I loved it. The art, the Dark!Willow, the dialogue, everything.

I may be in the minority but I really liked No Future for You. It added a lot of depth to Faith, and I enjoyed seeing her work together with Giles. I'd say it was the one that stuck with me the most. Might not have been the best, but it's probably my favorite.

It's tough to beat anything Joss writes. My top three are definitely Time of Your Life, The Long Way Home, and The Chain, with Turbulence at a close fourth.

Nothing has beaten No Future For You yet, imo. Upon further re-reads, Time of Your Life is a close second, followed by Wolves at the Gate. Not sure how to compare single issues to full arcs though, so I won't.

I voted for "Wolves At the Gate," that is still one of my favorite Arcs. But I also really love "After These Messages.." Definitely my fave of the stand-alone issues and one I have read countless times. I also read "Long Way Home" again the other day, and had forgotten just what a good beginning arc this was. Having not read it in a while has certainly increased my appreciation for it. But out of all the arcs, "WAtG" is probably the one I have revisited the most. Although, when the season is over I plan to do a complete read-through.

^^ I really liked WatG, overall; But the giant, machine Dawn really brought down my liking for it. Made the final battle seem way too childish and silly, IMO.
I agree with Wyndam, that comparing single issues to an arc is a bit... unfair. But I didn't want to leave the singles out, as I think they stand as their own stories.

I have a hard time keeping track of what exactly happened in Retreat near the end and what in Turbulence and what in the Twilight arc.
My favorite issue is #12, but if we go story wise:
1. Wolves at the gate 2. Anywhere but here. 3. The chain 4 No future for you 5. The long way home 6. A beautiful sunset (kind of ruined now that I know it was Angel that hurt Buffy that way) 7. After These Messages... We'll Be Right Back! 8. Predators and pray 9.Retreat. 10. Time of your life 11. Turbulence 12. Twilight (might like it better after I find out if Angel was brainwashed or not, but probably not)

I've only read up to Retreat, but my fav is Predators and Prey. I love love love this arc. Harmony, Clem, Anderson Cooper, Andrew, Faith and Vampy Cats--it couldn't get better for me. I'm so surprised its like the least favorite for so many people.

This reminds me, the one shots and e-comics should have been up there or get a poll too (I would make one, but my internet connection sucks). The + Spangel story would get my vote.

^^^Always Darkest? That one's nifty. It and Harmony Comes to the Nation are reprinted in the Retreat TPB. Carpe Noctem is my favorite of the web comics though. Tales of the Slayers/Vampires is just a cool title for stories to be under in general.

1. A Beautiful Sunset 2. Turbulence 3. Wolves at the Gate 4. No Future For You 5. Twilight (Depends. It's the fifth most well written, but this might change if Joss doesn't justify Angel's actions in Last Gleaming) 6. Anywhere But Here 7. Time of Your Life 8. The Long Way Home 9. The Chain 10. Predators and Prey 11. Retreat 12. After These Messages... We'll Be Right Back!

I was going to put the one-shots up there, but they really aren't a part of the main run. Plus, the Riley one hasn't been released yet, and I didn't wanna just leave one out.

Wolves at the Gate, man. Wolves at the Gate. TOYL was also pretty ace. Seeing as I don't own NFFY, I haven't read it in a while, but I remember liking it a lot.

As far as single issues go, nothing has topped A Beautiful Sunset.
Season 8's prime was definitely No Future For You through Wolves at the Gate. Ugh I miss those days. It's a tough choice between those two, but Wolves at the Gate wins it. Just has all the elements I loved from the show.

The first 11 issues were all strong and sadly the best of the comics. I guess I'd go with No Future for You as the best most focused arc.
I don't get the love for Wolves at the Gate with giant robot Dawn stomping around Tokyo, Dracula (did anyone like him on the show?), or the idea that Xander went to stay with Dracula and kept in touch with him. Hopefully that's Andrew telling stories again, but who knows. Then there's Batsu (pretty random) and the obvious choice of killing another one of Xander's girlfriends.
The comics never fully recovered after that. It felt like a side story anyway. Vamps want the scythe, Buffy gets it back. The end. And yes I know I simplified it a little, but not much. Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but how much of that four issue arc had a point in the overall scheme of things? Maybe it's still to come, but as of now I think a lot of it could have been skipped. Time will tell.

Willow's vision, which led directly into Time of Your Life. They weren't going to New York randomly. And maybe more Scythe stuff that may be important (since the Scythe was the focus of everyone's attention in Wolves at the Gate).
