I just read this issue again and I have to say, the art is fantastic. Georges has really improved, likeness and overall style. I actually think this is my favourite issue so far, in terms of writing and art. The Xander/Dracula parts are perfect and hilarious. The Andrew lecture scene is amazing. Even the Willow/Satsu scene was great.

I liked Buffy vs. Dracula too. Don't get why most fans hate this ep. I thought Rudolph Martin did a great job playing him and it was cool to see Rudolph and SMG together again. I watched them on All My Children-had chemisry then too!

I actually have no real idea why I don't like the ep. I mean, for an opener, it's actually one of the more complete ones as it sets up several things to happen. I mean, there's Drac hinting at Buffy's dark side. This in turn keeps Giles around regularly for one more season. There's the whole setting up of Riley's jealousy/inadequacy issues. And it retrospect, there's the whole buttmonkey deal with Xander and Drac. Also, didn't we just get Dawn landed upon us for the first time ever? But in terms of how I felt when I watched/rewatched it... it was kinda dull. I mean, the Dracula make-up was bad. The whole thing kinda felt filler-ish, despite being the opening episode, as well as having all aforementioned goodies packed in. Also, Buffy's pink leather pants *shudder*.

I liked this ep more for its comedy than action, like Giles with Drac's brides was frickin awesome "getting nuzzled to death". The scenes with Drac were boring tho. The only pro to his being there was showing Buffy her dark side.

I watched them on All My Children-had chemisry then too! I loved "Buffy Vs. Dracula". I don't know why there was so much antipathy directed at the episode. I thought it was a classic Buffy episode. Marti Noxon did an interesting spin on a iconic character, an original and different interpretation. I think that's possibly the reason some fans didn't like it; because it was not what they expected of Dracula.

The reason I didnt like the episode was because I thought they'd do an original spin on dracula but instead he was just really typical and unoriginal.

Instead of doing a traditional Dracula, they made him more of comedic character, joking about the iconic nature of "Dracula" and highlighting a mythology rife with cliches by mocking them with humour in a traditional Buffy style.

The spell that Kumiko uses on Aiko is read as 'NIGERO'. Now, I couldn't find that translation...but everytime I saw the kanji 'NI' it was used with 'GERU'. And when I put those two together it translated as 'NIGERU'.
'Nigeru' means 'to escape or run away'. Now if this is the intended meaning...I think that the Tokyo vamps spell is meant to make the 'demon slayer powers' escape.
Just thought that was a cool little find...
That and that meaning has been buggin' me for some time now.

What I'd like to know is that if the african-american woman talking to Buffy and Willow and telling her about Toru has been named
