Favourite Potential slayer? Sounds like some sort of oxymoron I know we needed them for the arc of season 7, but damn they were annoying... Vi was really impressive in Chosen though, also liked Chao-An. This issue looks awesome. I'm guessing it's back to 22 pages? It's going to feel short after the wonderfully mammoth issue 10. Can't decide where this Xander story is going.. looks like some Buffy/Xander action, but then he seems an obvious pick for the traitor if we're going for closest and unexpected. I'd be surprised if we find out who is behind Twilight's mask and the betrayer all in such a short time. Also how beautiful does this cover look? Gorgeous Giggles. Yes it is an oxymoron of sorts. But that Chao-Ann and flashcard scene was hilarious. That was a classic Buffy moment.

I'm really thinking Satsu might die this issue. She's on the variant cover and it seems like she is going to get a lot of face time this issue. Twilight needs to make a big impression on Buffy and us readers, and I think killing Satsu will do just that. That is exactly what I thought when reading the preview. I think there is a good chance she will die at the hands of Twilight. I hope I'm wrong, I really like Satsu, but I'm sure that's why we like her...so that her death will hit us harder.

No way am I going to believe Xander's a traitor. Totally goes against his character. I think it'll probably be either Andrew or Vi and Rona.

What about Chao-Ahn? I would love to see her in the "Wolves at the Gate" arc! (She didn't die did she?) She was hilarious. Definitely my favourite potential. Chao-ahn was Chinese, 'Wolves at the Gate' - as far as I'm aware - is set in Japan. Not that it makes any difference where a Potential is from and where they could turn up, but if Chao-ahn is going to be in Japan, I'd like to see Vi there, too. An early seasons Willow retread, but there's a reason people liked early seasons Willow. There is also something between Satsu and Buffy. Why is Buffy so close to her? I think it might have something to do with Buffy knowing about the Cinnamon lipgloss. Interesting previews, I'm looking forward to reading the issue. I love Scooby-on-Scooby scenes, something this series has been severely lacking so far. MB x

I agree with the Satsu dying thing. Which if it's true is so Joss...so Buffy. I really love the plushie/bear thing she wears in her hair. Out of all the potentials I liked Molly the most then Vi, Chao-ahn. I even liked Kennedy, there was something about her brattiness that made me think of if Cordelia ever became a slayer.

By looking at the previews it seems that we are celebrating yet another disastrous Buffy birthday. I do hope Willow comes back soon. And I guess Satsu was the girl in Chosen that got dizzy at her locker in the scene where the potentials got power around the world?
And I wonder just how close Buffy is with dear cinnamony Satsu?

Damn! I wish!! That would have been cool, but checking the screencaps proves that wrong. It was a girl of different ethnicity @ the locker. A Japanese girl did get activated but she was at the dinner table with her family. It's neat that Satsu cried tears of joy over her powers though.

My boyfriend is big on onomastics: apparently one interpretation of the name Satsu is that - broken apart - it means 'assistant' and 'haven'. Another meaning is 'killer'.

Maybe Satsu leads Buffy to Twilight, for her beat-down? Nah, I'm still thinking it's Xander who is the traitor and I have some ideas why. I think Buffy and Satsu will go to the vamps nest and kick some ass while Buffy talks to her about the kiss thing. Satsu will be totally awkward about it but Buffy will be grateful for someone waking her up. Then either before everything is fully resolved Twilight will show up and hand B her arse and either kill Satsu very abruptly or after a dragged out battle to make a point. Or maybe she'll take a lethal blow for Buffy.

If Xander/Willow do betray Buffy, I'm so totally gonna stop reading Season 8, for real. I'm thinking it's Satsu..

If either of them do betray her, it's got to be for a damn good reason, and I'm sure they will all make up. In season 7, Joss simply couldn't kill any of the core Scoobies because he thought the ending would be too sad if any of them died. I think the same is true of btraying Buffy and never reconciling with her.

I really can't see either Xander or Willow betraying Buffy... The only real evidence to that seems to be that it doesn't seem likely. It's a bit big of a twist to pull just for the sake of a twist. I guess, with the way Anywhere But Here went I can technically see Willow betraying her, but at this point Xander just wouldn't make any sense. If anything he's following her a little blinder then usual this last little while, the robbery thing seemed to slide right over him.
It definately won't be Satsu, they haven't really earned that with any of the new characters yet. But I agree with what others are saying, I definately think Satsu is going to be the first casualty of the season, and almost definately in the next issue. Unless we're reading into this betrayer thing a little too much... what if it's the Simone The Mohawk Slayer they've been referring to? She has betrayed her...

Do people really think Joss 'fan service!' Whedon would be stupid enough to introduce another potential lesbian into his franchise and then kill her/have her go evil after a few issues?

I think it could be Willow that betrays Buffy, but not that Willow is the "inside man." They have set up that Willow feels that Buffy is somewhat responsable for Tara's death and that she is keeping Kennedy away from Buffy for just that reason. What if something goes down that means Willow must choose between Kennedy and Buffy, she might betray Buffy to save Kennedy...especially since she does have some resentment towards Buffy in regardes to Tara's death. This could also be why Buffy looks so emotionally hurt when we see her in the future, finding out that your best friend wishes they had not brought you back to life because she blames you for the death of her girlfriend could really wound someone.

Are we talking about the same Joss Whedon? The one who brought Spike back from the dead because fans loved him so much? The one who turned season six of Buffy into The Willow Show? The one who kept Lorne hanging around for four seasons because people thought he was 'hilarious', despite the fact that he served no purpose and would frequently disappear whenever the plot was about to happen? Then, yes. Joss has commented more than once to the fans' reaction to Tara's death, and he's demonstrated in the past that his story is - to a certain extent - dictated by the fans, even if he is keen to impress this idea of 'giving people what they need'. And his comments have shown that he is very sensitive to the way Tara died, and how it has been perceived negatively by a certain subsect of the fandom. I don't think he'd introduce a new lesbian character only to kill her off within a few issues. If he was planning on killing Satsu off all along, I don't think he would have been stupid enough to mention her sexuality... But I've been wrong in the past. MB x

After looking at the previews... could it be concluded that "pink mohawk chick" is the "inside man"?
btw... can anyone find her name mentioned anywhere?

No. I don't think so. She works with Andrew, not Buffy. Plus, it would be a total cop-out.
