a lot of characters are being brought back? Wesley - dead, but working for W&H Gunn - vampire Fred - dead (presumably) Gwen - missing after season 4 Nina - was supposed to move away Lorne - wanted to leave and never come back I personally, don't mind it. I would love to see Fred and Illyria seperate. Hopefully with a cameo by Willow. (I also loved Lorne's poems in FN)

Gunn and Fred I don't mind, because from everything I've ever heard since the show ended, these are exactly what Joss's plans for those two characters were for S6 of the show. Wes and Lorne similarly don't bother me, because they were main characters, and there's plenty of precedent in the two shows for series-regulars seemingly being killed or leaving for good (Angel at the end of "Buffy" S2; Buffy herself at the end of S5; Lorne at the end of "Angel" S3) and then returning at the start of the next season. You forgot to mention Connor and Groo along with Nina and Gwen. These are the four I'm a little more about, even tho Groo is one of my absolute most-favoritest minor characters ever, and Gwen would be high on that list, too. My only gripe with it is that it's a lot of secondary characters to bring back all at once, but I've liked the roles Connor and Groo have played so far. Gwen and Nina haven't really done that much yet, so I'm still not sure what purpose they serve in the story, but I have faith in Brian that there is a reason for them, so I'll just wait and see...

Only Gwen annoys me... and that is because I hate her.

I have no problem with it. I was kind of upset Wesley came back, because his death was heartbreaking, but I quickly got over that. I'm okay with Gunn and Fed, because like El Diablo Robotico said, it was the original plan. I liked how Lorne was develped and I'm SO happy Gwen is back, because I'm in love with that woman.

I didn't like Nina, but I didn't dislike her, either. I'm perfectly willing to be won over and turned into a fan in AtF...

I'm not bothered about Gunn being a vamp as that was going to happen any way if the show didn't get canceled. The Wesley story seems to be okay and it KIND OF makes sense. Even though nobody signed a contract with Wolfram and Hart except fro Angel as he said it was an executive decision. I can except that Gwen is back but Nina is boring she was okay on the show but has doen nothing special in the comic neither has Groo who for some reason is also back. I wanted Lorne back but not this soon and not in the way it has been done in the book. He doesn't seem to be that effected by what has happened. He semed so crushed after he killed Lindsey. I'll need to wait and see about the whole Fred/Illyria thing because we've not seen much on that yet. Overall After The Fall is pretty good but could be a whole lot better.

I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with the characters returning.
Wesley: Right when Angel ended, I knew that if the series had continued Wesley would have come back as a Wolfram & Hart ghost. It wasn't even their intention to kill Wesley if the series had returned for a sixth, so he never would have been a ghost to begin with because he never would have died. When After the Fall was announced I was extremely excited, because I felt for sure that Wesley would come back as a ghost.
Gunn: Technically Gunn was never off the show, so he was never "brought back." I was very surprised when it was revealed he was a vampire. At the end of "Not fade Away" Gunn was hurt pretty bad, but I figured in the first issue (before the reveal) that he had just survived and recuperated. Not the case at all and this change for him was a really good move on Joss/Brian's parts.
Fred: Fred's return was also a plan of Joss' if the show had returned for a new season, so I am 100% fine with her returning as well. Once we finally get back to the present in a few issues, it is going to be really exciting to see more of Fred and figure out just what in the heck happened to her.
Lorne: I was a little shaky about Lorne returning at first because of his very heartbreaking exit from the show in the final episode. Those fears quickly vanished in #6 though, because I thought it was handled really well. He was stuck in HelL.A., so why continue to mope? He's just not that kind of person and would easily hop back into the fray.
Gwen & Nina: I like to explain their return in two different ways. The first is that Angel Inc. needed more female characters. Fred and Cordelia were both killed in Season 5 which left the team 100% all male until Illyria decided to join the fight. It needed a little more balance, which is why I think Gwen and Nina were both added to After the Fall. Also, there wasn't enough time for Nina to really leave town (I'm assuming). Secondly, both of them are already apart of Angel's world. They know what's out there, so why wouldn't they join the fight after they both have experience dealing with this stuff? If you at least understood what had happened to L.A., wouldn't you join up with others who were trying to help as well?
Groo: We have no idea where Groo has been since the end of Season 3, but it looks like he stayed in L.A. I always thought he'd make an interesting addition to Angel Inc., so I am glad he is back. His dialogue is hilarious and so far I haven't wished he hadn't returned.

Well Nina wasn't all tough and didnt have the experience in fighting demons. And I don't know if its just me but I think shes acting like a (female dog). I know that since L.A. was turned into hell that everything has gone all wacko jacko on her but still, she could be nicer!

I didn't like Gwen or Nina... I would, however, LOVE to see Cordelia to come back somehow. Whether it be an official resurrection..or just an image from the Powers that Be or whatever...

I'm sorry to say it but... Fred's return did bug me a little bit. Not a lot, but when I saw her I did kind of roll my eyes. I understand that there isn't a lot of room to work in such a short series, and we still don't know what the whole deal is with her, but it was a little irritating that she came back so quickly after Wes and Gunn.

The only one I exptected to come back was lorne and Fred. nina seemed to be leaving forever, but since she's stuck in hell i supoose she couldn't stay away. lorne is far to loyal to just go, although he doesn't seem to realize that he's a hero too.
And Fred didn't feel like a closed chapter.
But that noone(i don't count that bastard lindsey) left the show... that's not very whedon-like or realistic. atleast Wes turned into a ghost and Gunn was turned, otherwise it would have been too perfect.

I know that since L.A. was turned into hell that everything has gone all wacko jacko on her but still, she could be nicer! She is a female dog. Partly at least. Werewolf, remember? =P Anyway, all in all, I think the returns have been handled pretty well so far, so I'm not really bothered by them. Like most, I was initially bothered by Lorne's return after his wonderful exit, but even though I don't think First Night got the idea across well, the concept behind his return does make sense. Some returns were to be expected, I feel, even if this were an actual new season, such as Wesley, Fred, and Connor. Others I'm just glad to see back, like Groo and Gwen. Nina's the only one that's really bothered me so far, though I guess it'd make sense her flight didn't leave before Hell broke loose; I'm more bothered by the fact she's had very little role/point thus far.

Now that the gang is all back together and fighting together as a team, I'd imagine that we will see a lot more of the minor characters (Groo, Nina, Gwen) now that they are with Angel. Since the comic is about him and follows him, I understood why we haven't seen much of them as of yet, as Angel hasn't really either.
