The one shots are my favorite.
I'm really excited for the upcoming series of them.
Jeph Loeb (Buffy Animated) Jane Espenson, Doug Petrie Drew Greenberg Jim Krueger and Steven S. DeKnight are all scheduled to write.
Between them are set to tell the story between issues #21 and #29.
"One set of issues between those writers will serve to comprise one story arc told from a number of different perspectives."
I'm excited for the different perspectives. I love to see issues devoted to one character.

From what I've read, the impression I get of the arc after Time Of Your Life is the "one shots" that are written by Jane, Doug, Steve, Drew and Jim are going to tie into each other and be about a global event that occurs and further influences the way the gang are viewed by General Voll.
I'm guessing it may have something to do with Simone Doffler, perhaps staging an attack on some institution, being viewed as terrorism and then linking her to Buffy. Each issue would be a different characters perspective on the situation, Buffy with Xander and Willow, Giles and Faith, Andrew and his squad, Simone and her group of Slayers then another perspective, maybe General Voll's or another Slayer squad stationed somewhere else in the world.
The Jeph Loeb issue is the only I would consider a standalone, because the others all are part of a bigger story.
Also after that arc, it will be another written by a single person, from what I understand, and that writer has yet to be confirmed. David Fury or Marti Noxon. Please.

Don't forget, General Voll is dead. It would have to be his replacement, but I don't think the entire military is part of Twilight's group, just certain members of it (the former General Voll, Lt. Molter, and others). But if Simone does something bad enough that reflects on the entire group, then it doesn't really matter who's affiliated with Twilight and who isn't. I'm really looking forward to Jane Espenson and Doug Petrie. Don't know enough about Kruger and Loeb. And Greenberg and DeKnight (other than "Shells") never really did much for me, so I'm pretty "meh" (*shrug*) about their involvement...

Willow and her were discussing killing people in No Future For You, so that made me think she didn't kill him, she just left him with his soldiers. She said something like "I don't know if I would kill a person, I guess we'll have to wait and see when the time comes...". Steve DeKnight didn't do it for you? That's blaspheme. Did you not watch Seeing Red?

Actually, I just went and looked it up, because I had doubts almost as soon as I posted it. And no, while Buffy beats him up, it doesn't look like he died (for some reason I had this memory of him getting shot)... Bad me...

Greenberg wrote Him and The Killer In Me. Enough said.
He is superb.
Yeah I didn't think she killed him, that would have started the season off very dark. Not that it would be bad, because that appears to be where things are going.

General Voll didn't die onscreen. They just never showed what happened to him.

Greenberg wrote Him and The Killer In Me. Enough said. He is superb. They were both "good" episodes, but that's about as far as I'd go (tho the last act of "Him" is awesome ;D ) with either one. DeKnight, well, I've never really forgiven him for "All the Way". And I find "Apocalypse, Nowish" to be incredibly over-rated...

Also Anya's last lines at the end of Him are too hilarious. "I wrote a poem. An EPIC poem. Comparing him to a daisy, a tower and a lake." I forgot he wrote and directed "Shells". An excellent episode.

This may sound silly, but we should start a petition asking Marti Noxon to write for the comics. So many people bashed her and blamed her for "ruining" Buffy. The fans who supported and enjoyed her work were much less vocal. When we submitted those questions to Scott Allie, I asked if there was any chance she would write, he said they hadn't spoken, but he would love to work with her. So maybe if we have a petition and get it signed by a couple of thousand people (that's not unreasonable, is it?), Scott Allie and Dark Horse might follow up and try to get her involved. She recently left Private Practice, so she might have some time on her hands at the moment.

Okay, I made the petition. My first petition, so please forgive the lack of professionalism. Should I make a new thread? I really want to promote this well, so we can get as many signatures as possible. www.gopetition.com/online/19585.htmlPlease sign! Thanks.

God i amreallyanticipating Jane's issue for she always treats Willow's character brilliant. Her sense of humour is fantabulous, and i'm betting that she might write a Willow-standalone issue.
Oh the chain was nice, ti provided a much neeed outside view on Buffy's organization and a life of a not that known slayer. I cherished it for its emotional writing, it was brilliant imho .

I don't think a petition to have Marti write for Season 8 is necessary at all. Why is that?

Because I think she'll write for the comic when it's right for her and the comic. Joss obviously loves her, and Scott Allie even said in the quote that he'd love to work with her. So there's no need to have a petition, it's already coming if it's meant to be. It'd be different if someone involved with the comics was saying they didn't want her. Yeah. I know it's a possibility, but I think if they know that the audience really wants this writer, they're more likely to go out of their way to arrange it. It's a reminder that we still want Marti. And in another way, if Marti hears through Dark Horse that fans made a petition because they would really like her to write, then I think she would feel more inclined to free up some time to write a story. Because she's at that level now where the only reason she would write a story for a comic series is if she felt passionately about it or knew she was wanted by the audience. I doubt she would need the paycheque, considering her development deal with ABC.
