Does anyone think that Christopher Pike should appear in Season 8? For those who don't know who he is, he is Buffy's ex that helped her killed Lothos from the Buffy comic "The Origin" and "Viva Las Buffy". He also appeared in the 1992 Buffy the Vampire Slayer feature film.
So thoughts?

I wouldn't like to see him. I mean if you have never seen the movie or read "Origin" you wouldn't know who he is when he shows up. I think it would be odd for Buffy to mention him NINE or so year after she left her Los Angeles life behind. He just wouldn't fit.
Plus is he even canon?

In the final season (season 9?), not sooner. About 30 issues from now. No more old characters.
But I think that would be nice, an arc with Pike in the final season, as closure. I liked how they wrote Pike in the original Buffy comic, and I hope he comes back.

Unless Pike has been keeping tabs on Buffy since L.A. and is secretly Twilight then I really don't need to see him.

I believe "The Origin" is canon, but not Viva Las Buffy. The Origin is basically an adaptation of Joss' original script for the movie.

I never had any problems with Pike, although I think that since he was never on the actual show, it might be hard to make a Season 8/9 return very convincing.

I wouldn't mind seeing Pike again. I don't know how they would bring him back in... maybe he is a rogue demon hunter now?!

I think it would be cool to see pike. But in many ways we already have. Pike is about 1/2 Xander and 1/2 Oz. Luke Perry did a pretty good job playing him in the movie.

Pikes return (if you could even call it that) would just be sad.

Haha, would you all be pissed if Pike was Twilight? I would. Introducing him as an allie could work, but he can't be the big bad, because then people would feel forced to watch the movie, to see how they missed "clues". It wouldn't work.

I would have thought just about every B fan would have seen the movie anyway or read the comic Origins...
Id love to see him return. Iv always wounded what Buffy though about him seeing as she never really talked about him at all in the show.
If he came later during season 8 or 9 i wouldn't mind. I mean we have only had what like 5 episodes in comic form...and all who has returned is Amy and Warren... and Dracs.

Anywhere But Here 5. A Beautiful Sunset 6. Wolves at the Gate And, of course Twilight (whom we aren't sure is a past character. Why exactly do we think that?) is returning.

I would have thought just about every B fan would have seen the movie anyway or read the comic Origins... Nope, not me. Didn't see the movie 'cause I couldn't possibly imagine someone other than SMG playing Buffy (same thing with "MASH"--love the show, never seen the original movie because it'd just be too weird seeing the same characters with different actors). And I never cared about the comics until S8 and AtF started, and even then, those are still the only ones I have any interest in (and "Fray", too), because they're the only ones that are canon. Not being a "comic book guy", if I have the urge to read a "Buffy" or "Angel" story that isn't canon, I'd much rather pick up one of the novels (some of which are pretty good). So to answer the question: no, I don't want to see Pike turn up at any point in S8 or S9...

I feel like the longer arc stories are actually closer to two episodes like season 2 "What's My Line?". 1-2 Long Way Home 3 The Chain 4-5 No Future For You 6 Anywhere But Here 7 A Beautiful Sunset 8-9 Wolves at the Gate 10-11 Time of Your Life And that will arc will end at issue 19, which is half of the 40 arc season. It matches up to the television season of 22 episodes nicely.

I kinda assumed that after the final frame with Satsu&Buffy in A beautiful sunset, they got drunk and had sex immeniatly, which makes A Beautiful Sunset & Wolves at the gate the same episode. But now when I think about it, they're not hangover or scratched up from the fight, so Satsu & Buffy aren't such big sluts for sleeping together so quickly, yay. Not that being a slut is wrong. Did I have a point? Oh right, only six epsiodes in over a year. That's depressing. Better than nothing, much better, but I hate waiting.

It might make a good topic for a brand-new thread: "What equals one episode of the show?" I'm too lazy to start one myself, tho. I've been looking at it as each 4-issue arc equalling one ep, and each standalone equalling one heavily-abridged ep. But there definitely is something to the idea of each arc equalling a "What's My Line"-ish two-parter...

Actually wouldn't be such a bad thing to bring Pike into the series. He is as much a part of the Buffy mythos as many of the recurring characters that fans love to see return. I always thought that it was a missed opportunity not to have Pike make an appearance on the show so this would be the next best thing.

I like Pike, but I'm not sure what he would add to the storyline right now. I don't think Buffy/Pike works at this point in her life. So, unless Pike has developed a superpower or wants to become a watcher, I wouldn't be too excited to see him.

Actually, the Spike/Pike similarities might lead to a better use of Pike in an Angel story. It makes sense that Pike might have gone back to L.A. after splitting with Buffy and so could easily have been there when it went to hell. Given his past as a demon hunter of sorts it would follow that he might choose to do his part in fighting the demons that have taken over the city and so sooner or later he's going to run into either Angel or Spike. Be kinda cool to have a scene with Spike and Pike fighting side by side as one of them mentions Buffy's name for the first time. Obviously, never gonna happen, but with regards to Pike's return in general, I'd say it's like any other character in that we aren't really the ones to say how or if he should return. It's not up to us to decide who is going to be part of the story or not and thankfully Joss' vision of the Buffyverse is slightly more imaginative that ours may be. If he was to bring Pike back then there would be a good reason to do so ad it won't simply be as a returning love interest for Buffy, I'd hope.
