Great interview! Thanks for posting!
A post-Season 8 Summer Special?! That is extremely cool.

Yeah, I caught that too - Summer special sounds awesome. Also, it sounds like he's already done with Issue 22 featuring Kennedy...
He mentions being good at drawing Oz - does this mean Oz may be returning sooner than his 5 issue arc written by Espenson perhaps?
He mentions that a lot of characters return in the future. Besides Harmony and Oz, who else are we expecting? Joss did say (at some point) that Riley might be back. Anyone else?

Spike and Angel later down the line, according to Scott Allie.

This is an interesting article. It seems to be sparking some controversy on other sites regarding Georges comments about Angel:ATF. Mr. Lynch even chimed in; I hope that Georges didn't hurt his feelings 'cause I love me some B. Lynch writing! I don't find ATF confusing at all.

I read it as a bit of a shot at Lynch. Probably wasn't supposed to be, but he basically said he liked ATF except for the writing.

BAH! I found nothing about the interview offensive at all. In fact, kudos for not being just another clone, back-patting one another. I, personally, agree with Jeanty, that while AtF is highly entertaining, and interesting, it's not perfect. I'd say the same thing about S8. But as Jeanty isn't personally involved with AtF, his opinion is merely fan opinion, regardless of his position as main penciller of S8. As for bloody controversy... I call it an over-reaction on the part of all guilty parties.

I have to agree with him. I found both the art and writing of After the Fall to be confusing at times. It's very high quality, but I still feel it's a little rushed. I wish Dark Horse had held on to the rights to Angel. It was a very silly move.
The Summer special sounds interesting, even though it's two years away!
And to Emmie: Maybe Georges has already finished this arc and is on to the next Oz arc. He could be working super far in advance.

I read somewhere that Jeanty had actually started pencilling this arc before starting work on #20 (considering the delays in confirming a script and all), so it's possible that he has already moved that far down the line. Another explanation would be that he has to do practice sketches, to pass the likenesses test or something. He did say that the only way he improves is to keep drawing, and so even if Oz is quite a ways down the road, it may be a good idea to keep practicing. Hoping that his Kennedy has improved since the variant cover for #16. Apparently he got it at the end... but I'm hoping that doesn't mean that the only good Kennedy is the final panel.

AFTER THE FALL is many things, but rushed is not one of them, believe me. And when BUFFY and ANGEL were on two different stations, if a BUFFY writer insulted ANGEL ("Well as a fan I just don't get it") would you think it's weird? I sure would. Two more issues to write, two more...

Two more issues to write, two more... Oh, Brian. I feel so sad for you... you sound really sad in that last line. I, for one, am loving ATF a heck of a lot more than I am Season 8. So kudos to you, there! I think you're doing an amazing job. As far as what Jeanty said.... I don't know. On one had I think he should have the right to say what he said; and I don't think he meant it to be offensive or anything at all like that. He was merely giving his opinion. But on the other hand, I can see where he really shouldn't have said it because of his involvement in the 'verse. Like you said, it would have been really unprofessional for a Buffy writer to publicly criticize an Angel writer when the shows were on television. And think that the same standard should be applied here. In any event, you shouldn't feel bad at all Brian. You're the best thing to happen to Angel since he became human in season one and really enjoyed that chocolate ice cream!

Man I feel so sorry for Lynch. He was given the project by the head cheese himself, that should be awesome; but everywhere I go I hear the same bullshit. It's not a problem with criticism. Anyone who writes something intended for public viewing has to take on board the inevitable repsonses that they will receive. It's not that, it's the constant down-playing of Lynch's abilities because he's not Whedon. Most comments translate into "they're doing the best they can do" or some other condesending statement, followed by constant questioning as to whether or not ATF is official. Furthermore, I really wish the word cannon was striken from the english language.
To be honest, I'd prefer "Eww the Angel comic is lousy, Brian Lynch sucks!" Mikey lol. The sugar coated responses feed my view of that horrible condesending mentality. It's like everyone is treading on eggshells or something.

I don't want to start an argument, but I'll just say this:
Mikey, I don't really think you have a place to say what is or isn't insulting to another writer. Brian has spent a long time with "After the Fall" now, and if someone says that they find it confusing, how can that not be considered an insult?
I really don't want this to turn into a big deal, but since you are also a writer, I'm just not sure I understand why you wouldn't think one professional saying they found it confusing wouldn't hurt the feelings of the person that wrote it.
The only thing that I can think of is that you just wanted to make a point that you aren't one of Brian's biggest fans (and aren't a fan of "Angel" in the first place). Whatever the reason, I don't think it is very considerate to tell someone that what they consider to be an insult, isn't one in the first place.

I wasn't insulted. I was surprised. I figured we were all on the same team, and back in the day, even when they were on different networks, it would be really disappointing to hear someone from BUFFY badmouth ANGEL. Plain and simple.
Yes, we're not in the same company. But we're all working with the same guy, playing in the same world.
And Mikey, I love you like the awesome haired brother I never have, but you telling someone they're overreacting is like the sensitive pot calling the kettle thin-skinned.
Two more issues!
