This whole Illyria getting free thing...
It gives me the creeps! I mean: sure it's gonna kick everybody's ass and all but.. SHE'S GONNA DO EXACTLY THAT! She could be the new Lord of All LA. What if everything is Illyria's plan? Or her follower's plan to give the King a new Kingdom? What if Wesley's voice has nothing to do with W&H?
I think it'd be great for her to be the Big Bad!
But that leaves Fred in a bad situation... First of all, we don't know if she's really Fred or Illyria playing tricks. What we do know is that Illyria will be freed from her shell, but not what's gonna happen with it. Is Fred gonna turn into a ghost and live, er.. un-live a beautiful fairy/ghostly tale with Wesley? Is she going to live inside the shell with Illyria's former strength as a demon but with Fred's mind and soul? Will she be turned into a puppet? ;D
It's all really weird, 'cause we don't see her in the #15 cover, but Kelley Armstrong says she loves the character... grrrrr... too many questions without any answer!!!!

Illyria is a demon king from the demon age. He doesn't wish to rule humans. That is why he/she return to Wes after he/she saw his kingdom and army gone.
Fred is dead. Illyria can change into the form of the shell (Fred), but it is not Fred.
Once Illyria is free from the shell, all that will be left(I assume) will be Fred's dead body. Fred's soul is gone. It was destroy in the fire of resurrection. It was destroy resurrecting Illyria. It was stated in season 5.

My idea is that Illyria will be freed, and Fred will have her body back. We really aren't sure what all went on with her soul at the moment after all of this stuff going on.

Joss even say in season 5, that he is going to killed off Fred. Fred is nothing more than a shell for Illyria. I doubt Joss will go back on his word and bring back Fred after saying it can't be done. Besides, Fred isn't on the cover for issue #15. If she was alive she would be there with the gang.

A lot of people that are alongside the gang aren't on that cover.

Joss always planed on having them separated at some point and have Fred back, so he must have thought of a way to bring her back. I don’t know if they will use it but I am sure he has come up with a way

Fred is gone. Fred fans just have to deal with it like the Doyle fans.

Just guessing... and hoping.

There no way Fred coming back now. Yes, there are many ways for her to "come back". One shot from a crossbow doesn't mean she's dead. She might be, but remember? She's also Illyria. Anything goes with the two of them right now really.

I agree trunkstheslayer! They're was an idea going on after Angel ended that Fred and Illyria would be separated and i remember reading how if Angel would have continued in season, then Amy Acker could have played a double role. Another rumor was that Willow would be the one to split up Illyria and Fred and have them both exist!

i feel like illyria is kind of not a threat at this point... she's accepted her limitations and is for the most part okay with her current situations. if given the chance, "Shells" Illyria would kill everyone in a heartbeat... but After the Fall Illyria is more likely to help than hurt.

Wait for the next issue... Looks like Illyria is gonna make some serious damage. Fred isn't coming back. Frist she die from Illyria, now Gunn shot her. She die twice. She gone for good. Also, Fred isn't Illyria. Fred is a shell to Illyria. It was stated in season 5. Hey, it's the buffyverse! Dead people (and vampires) keep coming back no matter what! And, despite saying whatever in season 5, Hell makes Illyria quite unstable. In fact Hell makes everybody feel some of their worst nightmares (except maybe for Spike?) with Illyria's one being loosing control of her shell to its former owner (just theorizing). And I'm so hoping Kelley is going to use her in Aftermath!

[glow=red,2,300]DOCTOR The sarcophagus contains the essence of an old one, a race of ancient demons dead and buried for millions of years in a place called the Deeper Well. GUNN Not hearing anything I don't already know. DOCTOR (stands) Why do you think I'm telling you? GUNN (punches the doctor in the stomach) How do we bring Fred back? How?! DOCTOR You can't. GUNN I don't believe that. You know a way. You have to. DOCTOR Get the sarcophagus released from customs in exchange for making your cerebral alterations permanent. That was the bargain and the extent of my involvement. GUNN Then take it back. Everything you put in my head, the law, all the knowledge, take it back. Everything. (crying) Take more, leave me a vegetable. I don't care. Just bring her back. (softly) Please... bring her back. DOCTOR (shaking his head) There's nothing left to bring back. Miss Burkle's soul was consumed by the fires of resurrection. Everything she was is gone. (Gunn lets him go) Forever. For better or worse, you made a deal, Mr. Gunn. I suggest you learn to live with it. [/glow]

You're taking the word of an (clearly) evil doctor, who is in Wolfram & Hart's pocket as complete truth? If "After the Fall" has shown us anything, it is that Illyria isn't exactly operating at 100%, and that is most likely because Fred is alive inside her.
