Im so happy. His speech was perfect.
of course Mccains made AZ residents look SOOO BAD.
anyway I cried.
but Ive gotta say im disappointed in the young republicans, especially the ones on my myspace and facebook. They are saying some very hurtful things. so I wrote this on my page and I think it explains how I feel about the republican baracklash
"If you don't like Barack that's fine, I just hope you have VALID REASONS for your dislike. But remember this: We democrats suffered through 8 years of policies and actions we didn't agree with. This country is not in peril now that we have an educated PEACE ORIENTED man in office.
Respect your new president. Respect the country you loved not 2 hours ago. And realize that Barack Obama and Joe Biden have your best interest at heart. They are husbands, fathers, friends, sons, and brothers at the end of the day. People who want to make life better for their children AND FOR YOURS.
They are not spiteful people out for revenge on 8 years of failure. They are here to pick up the pieces that our previous leaders dropped. They are here to bring our allies back.
We are ONE PLANET. not everyone is out to get us. The moment you realize that fearing everything is no way to live, is the moment you let hope and optimism heal the years of cynicism we've been taught to express.
HOPE>FEAR"

...yay? I've got mixed feelings on this one. I mean, I love Sarah Palin to death, but Obama is a pretty cool dude. Needless to say, I think this'll work out just fine.

As a Republican I can admit that the election didn't go the way I wanted it to, but this is certainly no time for anyone to be badmouthing a new president. I may not have liked Obama's policies, but I can certainly recognize that he is a good man and that he has very good intentions. It's too early to say whether or not he will be able to deliver any of his promises, but this is certainly a historic day and I am glad this election was the first one I was eligible to vote in.
I am an optimistic person in nature, so I will just say that I have high hopes for the next four years, and I am excited to see what happens next.
I hope for the best for McCain, and I thought his concession speech was fantastic, as was Obama's acceptance speech.
Congrats to the new President.

This feels like one of the most historic moments I've witnessed in my life. Definitely true Emmie. I'm rather ecstatic. The last eight years have been truly horrible, and I hope we can finally move past them. Time will tell if Obama really keeps his promises. Personally, I think he will.

Can I ask those who consider themselves republicans, why you chose the affiliation? Just inquisitive is all, no fights will ensue.

I'm not really either a Republican or Democrat, there are issues with both parties that I do agree with, but if I had to say which one I was more like, I'd have to say Democrat. Although I did vote for McCain yesterday. To be honest I really didn't like either candidate much (the one I liked didn't make it to the final 2). But I'll just have to see how Obama does.

I don't even know what the difference between a Republican and Democrat is. Does it really matter? Just vote for who you think will do a better job. I took an online test and the candidate who's views I agreed with most was Ralph Nadar.... so whatever. www.vajoe.com/candidate_calculator.htmlI'm glad Obama won. I wouldn't of been bothered if McCain won though. I both agreed and disagreed with both on certain points.

This feels like one of the most historic moments I've witnessed in my life. AGREEEEEEEEEEEED! Obama's speech gave me goosebumps it was so good! I thought McCains concession speech was very genuine. Wow! I'm so excited to be living in the obamaNation! He's going to fix every single problem this country has, and turn it into a magical candy-mountain place where all our dreams come true! And when he's done (cuz that should only take him, what, 2.5 years? 3, tops?), he'll probably head over to Europe and do the same for them. And he won't even need a boat or a plane to get there, dude--he'll just walk right across the surface of the Atlantic! Maybe he'll actually do a really good job--I certainly hope so. But the level of excitement over him--as tho he's JFK, Martin Luther King, and Gandhi all rolled into one--actually kinda scares me, to be quite honest. Bordering on "Shiny Happy People"-esque. I consider myself an Independent, and will vote for whoever I think is the best person for the job, Democrat or Republican, and the only thing that this campaign convinced me of was that I was totally unconvinced that either guy fit that description. But hey, he's got 4 years to change my mind...
