Ok, so I was watching Lost and noticed this scene in Shape of Things to Come written by Drew Goddard. Hurley, Locke and Sawyer are playing Risk, but it starts out teasing the viewers like they're having a serious discussion about what to do with Ben and the craziness of the island. As the scene was happening I immediately flashed to the Dungeons 'n Dragons scene in Chosen. I just feel like Goddard was giving a little homage to Joss and that scene from BUFFY's finale - maybe he even had the idea for the scene in Chosen...
Anybody else notice the Buffy Effect in current television?

In another episode of Lost, written by Drew Goddard, Sawyer tells Kate that she "tastes like strawberries". Rack said the same thing to Willow in Wrecked.
During an episode of Grey's Anatomy, during a flashback, Derek caught Addison sleeping with Mark, and he says something like, "I look at you, and I feel sick." Xander said the same thing to Anya when he found out she slept with Spike.

In an epsiode in Supernatural season 1, wanna be demon-experts say "What would Buffy do?" when they panick.
In Friends they made a porn-parody of Buffy(I think it's still on youtube). It's called Buffay the vampire layer. Need I say more?

Actually Skytte, SMG talked about Buffy the Vampire Layer in an interview she did for some magazine sometime between the time the Grudge was a big hype and now. I don't think that was fake and made up by the FRIENDS writers. LOL There are a lot of similarities between Buffy episodes and Smallville episodes. There's even a Smallville episode where Clark is shown to be in a hospital or mental place or something and the actual show has been a story he's made up in his head. EDIT: Buffy the Vampire Layer: www.imdb.com/title/tt0225227/

Wes and Gunn do the exact same serious discussion/Risk fake out at the beginning of "Blood Money."

I understand that with these genre shows there will be cross overs with ideas and influences taken from each show etc but smallville is so balent with its stealing of plot lines they dont even attempt to put their own spin on it. argh. bastard show.

Yes, I noticed most of the episodes of Lost have many Buffy references.

I used to love Smallville. Then I watched a single episode of Buffy and realized that they were exactly the same show. And Buffy was better. Smallville still has it's moments, and some of them are even creative. I loved the Justice League, for example. But seriously, Smallville is really starting to make me mad with it's plot-kleptomania and general repetetivity.

It's clear that Buffy has changed tv forever! Even today, 5 years after it ended, it's insanely difficult to go anywhere without hearing about Buffy. Also, I watch Charmed. I actually watched charmed when it was on the wb and only recently got into buffy and angel. but i was watching the Charmed episode Sleuthing with the Enemy. and when Phoebe almost killed Cole/Belthazor and then didn't it reminded me of kind of the reverse of the Buffy/Angel thing in Becoming Part II. Phoebe lied to Prue and Piper about vanquishing Cole. and Buffy lied to Giles, Willow, & Xander about killing Angel after he got his soul back. Actually, Phoebe and Cole's relationship is very reminiscent of Buffy and Angel.
