Are any of you fans of M.I.A? I have been a fan since forever it seems like. When I heard Galang, I went out and bought her first album Arular. All of her music has such a "world" theme to it, something I haven't heard before...I love it! She's getting alot of mainstream attention for her single Paper Planes which was in the trailer for Pineapple Express. She recently "retired" but has since decided to come back out, after her single became popular.
She is set to re-release her second album Kala with a couple new songs and a remix to Boyz featuring Jay-Z which is the next single. Here are the videos for Paper Planes, and the new single called Boyz:
Boyz (the new version has a few new verses and a part with Jay-Z...this video was a single about a year ago)

i love M.I.A, my friend introduced me to her when "Jimmy" came out, and since i'm a bollywood fan that immediately got my attention. she's got some fantastic beats in her songs and they're all damn catchy.

I love how everyone has to say "I've liked her since"
shes a great artist. its hard to get people into her since her accent is strong. most people just mumble through her lyrics which is funny.

I love how everyone has to say "I've liked her since" shes a great artist. its hard to get people into her since her accent is strong. most people just mumble through her lyrics which is funny. Like I said though, I have liked her ever since I heard Galang, which was her very first single. A friend of mine used to work for MTV, and sent me a compilation cd with about twenty songs on it, including that one. The "Yah yah heyyyyyyyyyy" stood out to me so much! This was in 2004. And I love her lyrics, they actually stand for something these days (which is hard to come by). She writes about issues that are important to her, which she feels can make an impact on the youth. My favorite song by far is Bamboo Banga, we did a routine to it in my hip hop class as well. XR2 had me in anticipation of Kala for like a year lmao. She said herself that when writing songs, she thinks about how she can easily craft songs to fit mainstream...but chooses to instead get us with meaningful lyrics, and forsake mainstream success. I am happy that Paper Planes has given her attention. I do not know if she will "sell out" per se, but I will always be a big fan of hers. "Some, some, some, some I murderrrrrrrr...." Paper Planes, its remix and Swagger Like Us blew up out here in Montreal. I can foresee her becoming the voice of many street anthems to come.

Loved them for years, I always pop one or two of her songs on party compilation cds etc and they always go down well.
Boyz is an awesome song, didnt know she was rereleasing it with jay-z though! thats pretty cool.
best has to be bucky done gun.
Always try to rap along with it while drunk...never really works however...haha.
Pull up the people is pretty legendary as well.
