What are your musical highlights of this past year?
Found yourself liking any new artists?
What albums were real gems?
Any dissapointments?
Who's been the biggest musical turd of the year?
Looking forward to the music of 2009? Anything in particular?

Iv been a MASSIVE bloc party fan for a few years and found 'weekend in the city' last year to be kinda dull but their new album Intimacy which came out a few weeks ago is IMMMMENSSSEEEEE!!.
def been one of the muscial highlights of the year for me. Bums that album. Kings of Leons new album was good as well but I found it so over advertised and over the place I was quite contain sticking with just my bloc party intimacy.
New band Iv discovered I really like would probably be Black Kids. They are pretty awesome. And I found a new german artist called bobby baby, her songs are really nice to mellow out to.
Still loving Paramore....yes they are emo....no I do not care....as much as I have a hatred for this new Twilight franchise i LOVE paramores two songs that were on the twilight album, 'decode' and 'I caught myself'.

Who's been the biggest musical turd of the year? The biggest musical turd would HAVE to be Mr. Hankey. haha you win sir. My musical year has been pretty great. Nas came with a classic rap album, one of my favourite albums now. Pendulum also released a great lp. Death Cab for Cutie's Narrow Stairs was awesome. Although I've had it since last year, Radiohead's In Rainbows received its official physical release in January. It's the best 'head album in years. I got into the Streets after a leaked demo collaboration with Muse surfaced (which was awful lol). I have since bought all of his albums, including this year's Everything is Borrowed. I discovered T.I this year too. Paper Trail singles are getting insane radio play and for good reason. The whole album is great. I got back into Kanye West somewhat this year. I felt last year's Graduation album to be pretty dull, but he's back on track with 808's and Heartbreak. Lil Wayne has done my FUCKING head in all year. I don't mind him making his own horrible music, but every other rapper seems to think he's brilliant and wants him shitting on their material too. As a Shady/Aftermath fan, it's been an incredibly dull year in that department. Not a single album out from any of the artist's on the roster. Even 50 Cent was pushed back to '09. Sadly Busta Rhymes, Obie Trice, and Stat Quo have been let go too. Next year looks to be awesome. Eminem will be back with his first album in 5 years, Relapse; as well as other artists I've long been fans of including: Fatboy Slim, The Prodigy, Jamiroquai, and Franz Ferdinand. Muse will likely have album 5 out somewhen too. :buffyslay:

I got Intimacy for xmas and I concur. I'm happy to hear them embracing being noisy again lol, A Weekend in the City got duller and duller as it went on.

Wohoo, Bloc Party fans!
On contrary to you two, I absolutely adore not only Silent alarm, but also A Weekend In The City and Intimacy. Each album has its paritcular gems that are just a blast. From Intimacy this would be Ion Square, Letter to my Son, Mercury and of course Halo. Love it!
Which artist I disliked this year: Katy Perry. Sorry, she's kinda cute, but I find I Kissed A Girl horrible. Hot n Cold is another story, but still, dislike her style and her attitude.
New bands I came round of: MGMT. Made it straight to my top 10 of best bands ever and just after listening to Time To Pretend. Electric Feel, Kids, Pieces of What did the rest. Great!

I have a new addition I discovered in december last year...
florence and the machine.
LOVVEE them.
'dog days are over', 'hospital beds' and their cover of 'you got the love' are great! Oh and I particular like 'girl with one eye'.
Tremendous band, and I heard they are up for best newcomer this year in the brit awards which I find odd seeing as they are basically completely unknown, they dont even have an official first album yet.lol.
