1st and 2nd printings sold out, so I guess it wasn't a horrible idea money-wise at least. I mean, the story is pretty lame to be honest, but people commemorated this historic event in a lot of ways, and Marvel wanted their piece!

I didn't really enjoy this issue.
I heard that Marvel was making a tribute to Obama because Obama mentioned collecting/reading Spiderman comics somewhere.

That's what Marvel and DC does. All the time. They have characters punch terrorists, characters save Presidents, etc. This isn't anything new or shocking, really.

Bush appeared in loads of Marvel Comics. Usually he wasn't named, but his likeness was used, like in Ultimates. I heard that Gordon Brown had a role in a recent Captain Britain story which tied into Secret Invasion. Celebrities make regular appearances in Marvel, didn't Secret Invasion reveal that Oprah and Simon Cowell were actually Skrull imposters?
Obama also appears, and has a more active role, in Thunderbolts IIRC. Something about him opposing Norman Osborn's recent takeover of SHIELD?
I quite like it, it reinforces the Marvel Universe's more "realistic" feel compared to other superhero universes. Kinda like "Harmonic Divergence" using real celebrities like Anderson Cooper.
