Oh how awesome! I went for the first time this year and had a total blast! San Diego is such a beautiful city - I totally fell in love with it. If you're going over with a few other people, I highly recommend that you get a serviced apartment together and share the cost - you'll probably find it'll be cheaper to do it that way too! And if you get chance, head to the awesome Aussie restaurant "Bondi" in the Gaslamp district (it's just up the road from the convention centre). Probably the only place in America you'll be able to get a Lemon, Lime & Bitters and great tasting beer! Plus, the food is fantastic!!! And invest in some damn comfy shoes - I thought my shoes were comfy until I had to spead hours upon hours standing in lines, day in and day out. The walk back to the hotel/apartment at the end of the day was a killer! Thank goodness we had a spa that we could soak ourselves in before collapsing into bed!

www.comic-con.org/cci/This is the homepage of the convention. It's still early so updates are far and few but come summer months, it gets updated weekly. The program schedule won't be up until a week or so before. But it's a nice page to read to get an idea of just how big the con is. This is the con where lot of shows started their fanbases at.

Southwest Airlines has these weekly Internet specials where they e-mail on Tuesday about the sales. You can sign up for updates to be sent to your e-mail. You can get a round trip to San Diego for less than $200 during these sales. As far for hotels, the SDCC web page offers hotels at a discounted convention attendee rate. You have to check the web page to see when they will open for reservations. But these are fancy, nice hotels that are kind of expensive. These hotels are on the convention shuttle route so you don't have walk or pay for a cab. The shuttle service is free from the con. There are other hotels/motels that are within 5 miles that are cheap and the cost of a taxi ride is less than $15 one way. I did that my first time going, stayed at the EconoLodge for $95/night and just took a cab to and from the convention center. I could have taken the city bus but I didn't know their schedule.
