Sorry about coming so VERY, VERY, VERY LATE into this conversation. BUT, in 2001 or 2002, Kelly Creamer one of the Slayathon organizers planned a Chicago Bronze Posting party at a Chicago hotel; therefore, she most likely has lots of hints and ideas about how to deal with Chicago hotel adminstrators, planners, staff and executives. Another point when planning things for the summer in Chicago, watch the calendar because weekends here are very full with lots of events and such. Recent example, about one month ago was the Chicago WizardWorld show, and the same weekend was one the area's major horror conventions and shows, and the two shows were about one block from each other. Another example, is Chicago Lollapalooza which would divert most folks's attentions. Allan Rosewarne: attending.post script to the previous message: To the Ontario Canada fan who said they'd bring a carload of Canadian fans a Slayalive convention. Well, in 2003 I drove from where I live in a Chicago suburb to a NY BtVS convention and met with alot of Canadian BtVS fans and they were all very cool folks. Not too late, lol. Great to read you're coming Allan! Will I be seeing you in 12 days at Slay-A-Thon? And thanks for the info on Kelly! I will be sure to talk to her about that.

How funny would it be if Tim got everyone to donate and he raised like a gazillion bucks and we never heard from him again. BWAHAHA

BWAHAHA LMAO anyway, i'm most likely going to have to back out of the convenvention. I'd love to go, but money restrictions will prevent me from being able to attend, and we're most likely moving around the idea date of the convention.

Ok, so I have an idea. Since Chicago always has so much going on on weekends and is way more expensive, what about having the con in St. Louis? It is very close location wise, so those wanting to drive, etc, it will be about the same. Also, I could liaison and help you, since I live here. We are just as big of a city as Chicago, but not as many cons/events going on, so more open. We have a ton of great hotels, and I could totally help out. I also can tell you what parts of STL to stay in blah blah blah. Prices here are cheaper, we have buses (greyhound), train (amtrak) and a huge international airport (Lambert). The same as chicago. Just a thought to save you some $$ and some energy on attempting to find a time that chicago isn't too busy with other events. I am attending. (even if its in chicago .) I would love to help organize in any way I can, so just let me know! I am so mad I hadn't checked this thread until now. Arg. Ideas for events: At dragoncon, we did this jeopardy trivia thing with prizes, that was awesome. Also had a costume contest, a formal shindig, many discussion panels, et cetera. I like the idea for the top 5 eps, the skits, the karaoke. Sounds like it will be fun!!! Name: Lynzy Location: st. louis, mo ATTENDEE!!!

Spikeluv,
I think St. Louis could work too. I'm open to wherever - the key is having people devoted to planning this being involved.

And it's going to be here in St. Louis now, right?! Is there a list of everyone that is pretty sure they would like to attend? Are we going to be advertising and trying to get others, or just us slayalive peeps? point me in the right direction, guys! I want to get this off the ground! I have a team of friends/minions to help! lol!

I would love to go, but the problem for me would be how I would get there. I know I'd be stuck going by myself since none of my family/friends like anything Whedonverse. I'd really like to find a way to go though.

Considering this hasn't been discussed since last Summer really, I doubt it. At least not anytime soon, from what I gather.

I was to take over the con and have it in St. Louis, mo, but I never got the info about the money, the details about what was already in the works, the paypal account, etc. I bugged people, but never got any responses. If there is enough interest, I will put together something for next year, but it didn't seem like many people were interested.

Well if it was in St Louis, I'd definitely go. It's not too far for me to fly or drive.
It's a nice locale, or Chicago is pretty central, I say.
