So I was wondering if any of you have seen Danny Boyles new film and what you thought?
I saw it yesterday and thought it was great!!
Departed from his latest film 'sunshine' and seemed to be more of a return to his older classic way of filming making along the lines of 'trainspotting'.
Its been named the feel-good film of the decade...which I find kinda bullshit...not because its bad but because through out majority of the events I was like holy crap does this kids life get any better?! It obviously gets all resolved at the end with the feel-good ending but up until that point I was far from feel-good!lol.
There were a few bits on the end that seemed slightly tacted on that almost seem there to try and hollywood-ise it to make it more recogniseable I guess for oscar time...such as the end chase of the female to get to him while hes on the show and the brothers redemption after being a royal arse through the entire film.etc.
All in all though, it was brilliant. Plus the soundtrack is f**king awesome and I happen to be listening to it right now.lol.
Any fans of MIA will enjoy the first song which is her vocals put over some bollywood-esque music by composer AR Rahman who actually won a golden globe for the films soundtrack.
So anyways, Go see Slumdog millionaire. Its pure quality.
Id give it 9/10.

The bollywood end sequence was great fun.
Im a big bollywood fan and actually got the chance to study bollywood films last year...however I do feel the whole bollywood sequence felt a tad bit forced and didnt seem to gel with the rest of the film.
I still loved it but at the same time I was kinda like 'uh?'
But saying this Id rather it be on the credits than not on the credits.
Bollywood rocks!

Danny Boyle has directed Millions, Sunshine, 28 Days Later, The Beach, and produced 28 Weeks Later.
Slumdog Millionare was the best film of 2008 in my opinion and is one of my favorites. The cinematography and music were incredible. Even the subtitles were awesome.

Saw the film, liked the film. I feel like early reviews were so good that everyone that subsequently saw it expected it to be the SECOND COMING OF FILM, so they immediately loved it. There was a lot of good, but there were--for me anyway--a lot of strange, and even bad plot choices that really bogged down the narrative. So much of it was useless, which made the parts that did matter seem more spread out, in my opinion, which again was really weird. Overall, not great, not bad, but fairly good. 7/10, I'd give, but I think I might start to get nervous if they make this movie Best Picture.

would it be grouped in 2008 or 2009 because it had a full release in '09, but i believe it had a limited release in '08?

I think it got a full release in late 2008. I saw it on Christmas Eve, and by that time it was already playing for a few weeks in most of the local theatres by me.

I really enjoyed this movie, the way the story was told in vignettes was clever and entertaining. I thought the ending got a bit choppy plot wise, but then I may not have the best understanding of the bollywood technique, since I'm pretty sure this movie was based more on bollywood style of storytelling than hollywood style. Again, I could be very wrong. I really liked the end sequence, though it did seem a bit forced and drawn out. The actors were very good, and the soundtrack is superb.
8/10
