Authors Note: I don't do my fan-fiction like everyone else's. I don't think there is a certain 'way' to do it so I done mine like you would see it done in a book. You will probably find mess-ups, hopefully not too many. This fiction is set during season 3, and I hope everyone enjoys it. Comments are greatly appreciated.
Chapter 1
"I'll be chosen forever." Buffy said grimly to Giles. "Well not forever." Giles replied. "Yeah well, until I die." Buffy sighed. Buffy and Giles were the only ones in the library. "What are you supposed to be doing?" Giles asked. "Well I'm supposed to be studying but I never study." Buffy said smiling. Then they heard the library door open. Joyce walked into the library with a smile on her face as usual. Buffy grabbed her History book as fast as she could. Joyce walked up to the table Buffy and Giles were sitting at. "Oh hey mom." Buffy said loudly. "I'm sorry I'm late Buffy." Joyce said. "That's ok mom." Buffy said as she stood up from the table. Buffy was walking to the door very quickly. "Come on mom." Buffy yelled from the other side of the library. "So how's Buffy doing in school?" Joyce asked Giles. "Not so well." Giles said. "What do you mean not so well?" Joyce said madly. "Well, she never studies. That's one thing I know of." Said Giles blankly. "Also how's the slaying going? I mean is slaying the reason she never studies and she's failing?" Joyce said as she started to walk off. Giles didn't say anything back. When Joyce got to the library door she said, "Bye Mr. Giles." and she shut the door.
"So what did you and Giles talk about?" Buffy asked Joyce when they got into the car. "You." Joyce said as she started the car and drove off. "Really? What did he say?" Buffy said. "He said you never study." Joyce said then looked at Buffy for a second then back at the road. "I study ALL the time, everyday." Buffy lied. "No you don't. You're too busy slaying things. You never even get a chance to crack a book!" Joyce yelled. Buffy sighed and looked out her window. She saw a shadow moving in the dark. "Mom. Stop the car." Buffy said. Joyce came to a stop. Buffy opened her door and got out and ran toward the shadow. Only it wasn't a shadow moving in the dark it was a vampire. "Hey vamp. I'm Buffy and I think I'm gonna have to slay you!" Buffy yelled as she got over to the vampire. There was a girl laying on the grass with a neck wound. "Well, come on slayer. Slay me." The vampire said to Buffy. "I could be studying right now but this is better." Buffy said as she punched the vampire hard on the face. Buffy reached into her pocket and pulled out a stake. The vampire looked at the sake with fear in his eyes. "You better be scared." Buffy said. She kicked the vampire he fell down onto the grass. The girl had already ran away. Buffy went down and staked the ugly vampire. "Now your dust." Buffy said when the vampire turned to dust.
After Buffy had slain the vampire she ran back to the car. "Sorry mom, scary vampire, someone has to slay them." Buffy said to Joyce when she closed the door. Joyce started to drive. "Well, why does it have to be you?" Joyce asked Buffy. "I don't know. Because I was chosen." Buffy whispered.
When they got home Buffy went up the stairs to her room. "Hey Dawn." Buffy said right before she opened the door. Dawn jumped then hid something behind her back. "Hey! How did you know I was in here." Dawn whined. "You always come in here. When I'm gone." Buffy said. "Well, whatever." Dawn said as she slyly sat down Buffy's diary that she had had hidden behind her back on the desk. "Also why wasn't you in the car?" Buffy asked with attitude. "Janice's mom drove me home from school because mom had to work late at the gallery. Duh." Dawn said. Then she sat down on Buffy's bed. "Get out." Buffy said pointing to the door. "Fine! I'll leave. I know you hate me!" Dawn said. She slammed the door closed when she ran out. "Oh my God. Why can't I be an only child?" Buffy asked herself. Buffy sat down at her desk and picked up her diary and a pen then she started to write the nights events down.
The next day Buffy woke up to her alarm ringing so loud she thought she would have to slay it. She reached over and pushed the snooze button and went back to bed. The next time it went off she got up out of bed and went to her closet to see what she was going to where today. Buffy finally found a pink and blue shirt and some jeans. When Buffy got dressed and fixed her make up and hair she walked down the stairs to eat breakfast. "Good morning." Joyce said when Buffy sat down at the table beside Dawn. Joyce was washing some dishes in the sink. She turned and faced Buffy. "Yeah but I wouldn't call it good." Buffy replied. Dawn looked at Buffy and rolled her eyes. Buffy also rolled her eyes. "What is it with you two? I'm glad you don't go to school together. Because if you did you would be in fights all day!" Joyce said. "What's wrong with us is we're sisters." Buffy said. "No we aren't. You were adopted." Dawn said smartly. "Whatever. Lets go know." Buffy said walking to the door.
Buffy got out of the car and walked to the main door. When she got to her locker Willow greeted her. "Hey Buffy." She said smiling. "Hey. Where's Xander?" Buffy asked. "He's not here today. I think he's sick." Willow said with a frown. Oz walked up to Willow and put his arm around her. Willow smiled when he did. "Hey Buffy." Oz said. Buffy didn't say anything she just smiled. Then the school bell rang. "Oh no class. Help me God!" Buffy said looking up at the ceiling. Willow and Oz both smiled.
When Buffy and Willow got to their class they sat down next to each other and started talking about last nights homework. "I forgot to do it!" Buffy said. "Really?" Willow asked. Willow opened her book and pulled out the work. "You can copy mine really quick." Willow said and handed Buffy the assignment. Buffy wrote down everything on her worksheet. When she was done copying she handed it back to Willow and said "Thanks. You saved me Wil." Buffy looked over at the desk where Xander would be sitting. She felt like a piece of her life was missing without him there with her. Willow looked over at Buffy and smiled. Buffy smiled back. Then the teacher got up from his desk and started to teach the class.
When the bell rang for the next class Buffy handed in her homework and walked out of the classroom with Willow. "So how are you and Oz doing?" Buffy asked. "We are great!" Willow replied. They were walking down the hall toward their lockers. When Buffy stopped to open her locker to get her books for the next class she felt very dizzy. Then she felt as if an unseen force was holding her down. Buffy fell to the ground gasping for breath. Willow ran over to help Buffy. "I can't breathe." Buffy rasped. "Oh my God!." Willow screamed. "Someone get help. Call an ambulance!" Willow screamed even louder.
When the ambulance came Buffy was wheeled into it on a stretcher. Willow and Xander went to the hospital with her. When they got to the hospital Willow called Joyce. "She's in a room with Xander right now." Willow said to Joyce. "What's wrong with her? Is she doing ok?" Joyce asked. "Well that's the thing we don't know what came over her. Maybe something supernatural." Willow said sadly. "Well I'm in the car right now. I'll be at the hospital as soon as I can." Joyce said. "Ok. See you when you get here. Bye." Willow said and put the pay phone back on it's rack. Willow walked down the hall and then into Buffy's room. Buffy was laying on a hospital bed. Willow thought she looked really bad. "Hey." Willow said to Buffy. "Hey Will." Buffy said in a raspy voice. "Are you feeling better?" Willow asked. "No." Buffy told her honestly. Willow found a big green fluffy chair to sit in by the window. "Your mom is coming." Willow said looking at Buffy. Buffy just nodded. Tears started to form in Willow's eyes. "Buffy. You're my best friend! I hope you know that. I hope you know that I love you. I love you so much. I don't want anything to happen to you and seeing you this way makes me feel so bad! I hope you get better!" Willow got up and walked over to Buffy and hugged her. Buffy started to cry too. Xander, very sad just looked at the floor then he got up and hugged Buffy too. "Thanks guys." Buffy said happily. She knew she had the best friends in the whole world.
Joyce walked into the room and over to Buffy. Xander and Willow were sitting down. Joyce kissed Buffy on the cheek. "Hey mom." Buffy said. "I love you." Joyce said smiling. Joyce walked over to a chair beside Willow and sat down. "Have the doctors said anything?" Joyce asked Willow. "No they haven't said a word really." Willow said. Then after a few minuets of sitting in silence some doctors walked into the room and motioned for Joyce to walk outside with them. Joyce got up and walked to the door turned and smiled nervously at the gang. Joyce closed the door behind her. "Where's Giles?" Buffy asked. "He's out of town. Do you want me to call him?" Willow said. "No I don't want to worry him." Buffy said. When Joyce walked back into the room she had a huge smile on her face. "What?" Buffy asked her. "Nothing. That's just it. There's nothing wrong with you. You are perfectly ok." Joyce said happily. "That's great! Now lets get out of this place." Buffy said starting to get up. "No you can't leave yet. They still need to keep a watch on you." Joyce said. "Why? I'm ok right?" Buffy asked. "I don't know exactly why you have to stay here." Joyce said. "That's weird." Willow said. "Did they say why that happened? I mean what was the cause of it?" Xander asked. "I don't know. They didn't say." Joyce said. Buffy just stared up at the hospital's yellowish ceiling wondering what was going to happen to her.
