it is unfair to compare the two vampires to find out which is better than the other. Both of the boys have their faults which is what makes them unique.
Angel's soul was forced on him. He never chose the path that he lives on now but he did adapt to the changes. This shows that he is doing this for no one but the people. Even with the rise of the Shanshu things never changed that much for him. When Connor was born I think it made his misson even more of a chalange and a blessing. Know he had something to truly fight for. Then when he signed away the Shanshu it showed that it didn't matter to him anymore. He was going to do what was right.
Spike chose his soul. He knew what he was getting himself into when he signed on for the deal but it didn't matter to him as long as there was a chance to be with Buffy. When he got his soul he had an easier time dealing because he knew how the game was played and never lied to himself about good and evil.

They can do a crossover. Joss has said that a million times. He just said he doesn't know if he WANTS to yet. I agree with Mickey. Also if you read Brian's remarks, it is clear that if warranted there isn't a reason there couldn't be a crossover - just isn't warranted yet (the future is open). I'm just saying it would be kinda hard to do a crossover since the 2 stories are by different publishers.

We don't know for sure if he was Shanshued or not! We just know he's not a vampire. I have a whole topic about this on the AtF board. I think its possible he's a different demon, but not human. The word "Shanshu" has not been used yet.

I have heard that Joss said this. Honestly, I love Joss, but it sounds like back peddling. Why in the world would Spike's dialogue be full of chip references if he really wanted to get his soul back??? Seriously - if it's gonna be a shocking ending - but Spike knows it's going to happen - then it should at least make sense and have some things that lead up to it a little. i agree. it seemed obvious to me that he was trying to get the chip out so he could be evil again... and my interpretation was that he was tricked and given his soul back... way to go with the vague storyline...

Whether he got his soul intentionally or not I think I would've liked a heads up before season 7 when he did all the "I got my soul back for you Buffy" stuff. I was like "What!? No he didn't!" And I only felt that way because it was the first I heard of such a thing. And, it certainly doesn't make him better than Angel. While I think Angel likes to be tortured - and sometimes does so unnecessarrily - he loved Buffy with a soul originally and never got a chance to have a real relationship with her including all the physical stuff that came along with it. That's why their story is the more heartbreaking and beautiful one. Because they wanted each other so badly and could never have each other. God, that sucks. And Angel left his one and only love - hurting them both - because it was the right thing to do. He was completely unselfish about it. And, you know, he was getting his own show. Spike might have got his soul for Buffy - maybe - but he also did so for himself. Oh, and how does giving Buffy what she deserves = Spike getting his soul back? How is that the immediate assumption? Hello? As late as OMWF he was torn between wanting Buffy dead and wanting her alive. He's like split personality guy because he was evil. Let's face it, if Spike had never been chipped he would've still been out killing and terrorizing and he would certainly never think about loving the Slayer. HERE HERE! How confusing for the end of season six to make it seem as tho spike were tricked into getting his soul back and then for him to gallavant around in season seven claiming he got it back on purpose and i agree that spike will never be comparable to angel.. their love was PURE... and i wouldnt even call what happened between spike and buffy love... it was just frustration and pent up agression on both sides.
