I think Vinnie is a good actor who was served repetitive material in season 4. All of his scenes with Cordy or Angel in S4 were the same crap over and over again, until the final 2 episodes where things finally got interesting. Unfortunatly it seems it was too little, too late for most of the audience. They had to basically give him a personality lobotomy to get anyone to like him at all.
The most irritating thing for me is that Conner hasn't so much as thought about how he helped kill a virgin to make Jasmine's birth happen in the comics so far. Instead hes busy puking his guts out over the fact that he lost his virginity to Cordelia Chase just because she changed his diapers for a whoping 2-3 weeks (which hardly makes her "mom" despite popular belief).

Connor was the most annoying character by far for me, but how could he be different given the life he had ? Same thing for Dawn. Being nice and healthy would have been completely out of character for them.

Perhaps it's because we were only ever told about his life in the Qortoth, not shown, but I never 'bought' Connor's hate for Angel. Storywise it works really well for him to only be gone from LA long enough for the fact that he's gone to just barely begin to sink in before he returns as a young man who can actually interact with everyone rather than just gurgle and eat. And his hate is certainly jarring in contrast to how Angel feels. But it feels shallow and contrived. And I know that the S4 story arc had to be substantially altered because of Charisma's pregnancy, but the whole bit where they end up together just doesn't work; it's too rushed.
My personal pet theory is that the whole reason for the move to W&H is an excuse to get rid of him because they realized that the character just wasn't working as a part of the main group.

Well, since Holtz didn't just gurgle and eat, but acted in a civilized manner, of course the boy he brought up will be just as civilized (and hateful). Weird that they don't have matching accents tough. But as you can see, although he's been raised to hate Angel, after a year, his hate has subsided immensly. I'm guessing that common sense made him disbelieve Holtz' stories. (perhaps the old man shouldn't have tied Connor to a tree, or whatever story Connor told Angel)

Connor is possibly my least favorite character in the Buffyverse. And why did they have to kill the amazing Darla to bring on the crap character? WHY?!
