Glad to see I am not the only one who has thought this. I love Buffy, but on Angel it's like the writers almost went out of their way to make Buffy appear as cold and bitchy as possible. She had her reasons sure, but in some instances I felt she was just too harsh and abrasive with Angel, very different from how she normally comes across, in my opinion. It's as if the writers were trying to make her unlikeable to viewers, or appear as the antagonist to Angel. Maybe this was done for the benefit of viewers who were not familiar with the character outside of Angel? But if this is the case I feel it was really doing a disservice to Buffy's character as she normally does not come off that way, or at least not so much so. Maybe the writers just wanted to keep both worlds as separate and distinct as possible for those who weren't familiar with both shows, so it became easy to paint Buffy as the antagonist in that sense? Even at the beginning of IWRY she came off as rather bitchy. She was understandably upset, sure, but it just seemed a little much, imo. I dunno, I love Buffy dearly, but something about her appearances on Angel have always just rubbed me the wrong way. Remember that in Angel S1 she is always going to L.A. to see her ex who dumped her, and at times when she's not very happy with him. She's gonna be bitchy. I think the only time she really steps out of line with him is at the end of Sanctuary when she becomes incredibly self-involved about the Faith/Angel issue. When Angel calls her on busting on his turf, she immediately moves to openly trying to hurt him emotionally, a cheap blow. I think it's pretty decent of Angel to go to Sunnydale to make it up to her after. I love Buffy in IWRY. In the sewers, I think she's totally in keeping with the kinds of conversations they had only about 6 months before in Sunnydale (e.g. at the beginning of Grad. Day Pt. 1). Possibly my favourite Buffy/Angel moment is when he walks out into the sunlight to go to her. That ep breaks my heart every time! I agree that Buffy had many reasons to be upset. I imagine that crossing paths with Angel was a definite sore spot with her, especially so soon after their break up. She was still in love with him after all (not that she has really ever stopped loving him ). But I do think her behavior on Angel was a little over the top at times, like I said. Especially the time you mention at the end of Sanctuary, when she really lays into Angel and sets out to deliberately hurt him. Yeah, that was uncalled for, imo. But Buffy is only human after all, and when it comes to matters of the heart we cannot always be logical and level-headed. I love IWRY . I watched it again just the other day. Definitely one of my favorite episodes of all time. It always makes me happy and sad at the same time. Happy that Buffy and Angel finally get a chance to be together, and sad b/c it all comes to an end (damn you, Joss Whedon ). That episode is so heartbreaking, but at least we got to see Buffy and Angel together as they were meant to be, albeit for one brief, shining moment.

Angel tells Buffy about Connor in the comic "Note from the Underground", which isn't canon but does slot into continuity in a "take it with a pinch of salt" kind of way. It takes place after "Grave" but before "Tomorrow".
Her reaction:
That made me laugh, that after all this speculation from fans, she would be so casual about it. ;D

It's hard to tell from the artwork. Buffy, Dawn, and Anya all look pretty similar in that scene. I suppose its less creepy for Dawn to be asking if Connor is cute. Even if it was Dawn, Buffy is still totally laid back about it in the next scene. Non canon comics aside, I like to think she knows about Connor and is cool about the whole thing.

For my take, Buffy would be shocked at the idea of Connor initially in a "Angel has a son? How? Huh?" then would quickly move on to acceptance because of how Dawn became her sister. She'd understand how crazy mystical things can affect your life.

What a great topic! I can't even imagine what Buffy would say. Wasn't it originally in the script for Chosen for Angel to tell her about being in love with Cordelia, and about Conner? I knew I heard that somewhere... I imagine she'd be shocked, and probably confused. But I imagine she'd be happy for him.

Think we can file that under "Things That Might Have Been In 'Chosen' If Joss Had Had David Boreanaz For More Than Seven Hours Of Filming". As a Buffy/Angel guy, I would have liked to see Angel have more of a role in the finale. (Not that I'm complaining, I just think it would have been cool to see him fighting and him and Buffy finally cat-chatting after so much has happened to the both of them.)

WILLOW Yes. Hi. You must be Angel's handsome, yet androgynous, son.
CONNOR It's Connor.
WILLOW (nods) And the sneer's genetic. Who knew?
She already knew, meaning Buffy probably already knew as well. Just like Buffy knew that Cordelia had died. I think that just because we dont see them communicating, doesnt mean they dont. They obviously do, one way or another. Besides, didnt they meet up after Buffy came back from the dead and we never saw that?
Buffy wasnt really whiney when she was on ATS, she had reason to be. She was extremely pissed at Faith, and she had reason to be and walked in on Angel and Faith sharing an emotional moment, so she obviously got the wrong impression. And her other appearance was called for as well, she stopped in to say how unfair it was that he didnt let her know he was in Sunnydale, which is wrong. And that episode is so sad.

I always assumed Willow found out through Fred.
Fred must have babbled on over the phone, letting Willow know lots of stuff.

Yeah, I'd assumed that when Willow was going to help Angel get his soul back, Fred had to fill her in on the entire situation. If you'll recall, Willow specifically avoided telling Buffy anything about that trip and Buffy was too busy with the First to even know. A good example of this is her immediate curiosity when Faith mentions being inside Angel's mind. Buffy is pretty out of the loop when it comes to Angel's life.

Wait, when did that happen? Was it in Season Eight, because I'm still re-reading that before I pick up on Retreat. (Which, by the way, Jane Espenson? She rocks. )

Mentioned it in quite a casual way that annoyed me Well, she does the same thing with Principal Snyder and Xander being all Nick Fury in the next few panels. It does seem kinda casual though. You'd think we'd actually get some WARNING that Buffy knew Cordelia was dead. *shrug* Oh well.

I never read Ultimatum, so I wouldn't exactly have a clue what to expect In a nutshell, Jeff Loeb rapes the Ultimate Marvel Universe. Incest, cannibalism, and humiliating off-panel deaths for countless A-list characters. It's widely acknowledged as the worst superhero comic in the history of mankind. Buffy got off easy, trust me.

Besides, Buffy would probably just react the same way Cordy did. Pissed, but she got over it.

If she were to find out after season6 or now, i think she would be fine and happy for him. Adult Buffy has come to understand that Angel is leading his own life just like she's doing, they have long since moved on. Enabling them to casually banter about their history as friends as we saw in Chosen. Spike was wrong, they can be just friends.

When Willow implied that she knew who Connor was in AtS season 4, I assumed Buffy knew o.0
