I just watched Lineage, which might be my favorite Angel episode, and I was thinking that we never learned who had send those cyborgs. It would have been interesting to know it, as that person seemed to have the archives of the Watcher's council, was fighting the right fight (except for that tiny bit of wanting to take Angel's will) and had awesome ninjas ! I may ask Drew Goddard if that was supposed to be an arc for the sixth season of Angel, or if it was to be left at this point. Unless someone here already knows about it, of course

This always bothered me aswell. I hate when plot points are left open, especially when something is said to make it seem like we'll get the answer soon. Other than that, I agree, this is one of my favorite episodes aswell.

I love this episode, but it never really bothered me about where they came from. It would have been nice to know though =[

It was bothersome for a while, but now I kinda like that it's left open.
Hopefully, this will be mentioned in season 8 of Buffy (or Aftermath or something).

You know I have never even noticed that it was never mentioned who sent them. I can't believe this I have re-watched Angel about 100 times. I wonder who it was...Lindsey maybe??

i always thought it had something to do with the first, being that they had the watcher council files after it was blown up. i recall something about it in Buffy I'm not sure though. i could be really wrong.

Simpler answer, it was Twilight

Simpler answer, it was Twilight Same here. I am now convinced that either Giles as a helper of Twilight's or a cyborg looking and behaving like the Giles we know is involved in this. He is the only one having access to the records of the Council. Apart from their looks being quite similar to Twilight's, I'd just fit.

Just watched this again the other night. Don't have an opinion on the ninjas but when Wes pops his dad when he grabs Fred was probably my favorite Wes moment. Well besides the feature of him doing ballet

i always thought that it was inferred that Lindsey sent them... i very highly doubt that it will be addressed in Aftermath.

I never realized it was written by drew goddard.
his episodes really do just rule!!
Shame he came aboard the buffy/angel-verse so late in the game.

I like this episode, but the "Wesley's dad is actually a robot" ending always felt like a bit of a cop out to me. Wouldn't it have been more meaningful if Wesley had actually killed his real father?
I assume the cyborgs were just sent by one of the hundreds of W&H clients/employees who were pissed off by Angel's new regieme. Sirk maybe? He would have had access to Watcher's Council records.

I am not quite sure Sirk could pull off something like this. He was a former Watcher member, but still ... sucker. Feels more like Giles...
Concerning "Wesley killing his father": I think they reverted the situation because it would've been something that had troubled Wesley over a rather long course of time, probably destroying the possibility of Fred and him getting together. I would have found it plausible as well, but looking on the course of the season, I guess they hadn't enough time to deal with this issue correctly.

The only thing that really bothered me about that episode, was David Boreanaz's horrific stunt double.
But that does pose a good question.
