did anyone else notice how much angel's voice changed throughout
"Angel". at first he started out with a normal voice that was fit for a
hero but then as the series progressed his voice became more and
more annoying. he started sounding like some goddamn
telemarketer. what do u all think about this? cuz im not sure if this
was
done on purpose to show how much angel's personality changed
or if it was just david boreanaz's voice changing cuz of natural
reasons.
i watch "Bones" occassionally and he still has that same annoying
voice...

David's voice could never be annoying. lol He is hotness forever. However, I did notice the mega change in his looks from season to season. Specially season 5. He was a lot heavier and his hair was longer...
but voice...was the same really...

I agree. On the annoying part, not the telemarketing voice. Do you mean that it lost it's melody or something and became more boring? I've noticed that he sounds different tough. More whiney and secure in himself.
I just watched Surprise and he sounds so different. I think it's because both Angel and Boreanaz got more comfortable. Angel came into his own, out of the brooding into the hero-stuff and Boreanaz got more comfortable with his character.
Angel whines more. Both in Bones is whiney as well. I just saw him in season 4, one of the London eps and he completely freaked out over the car and acted like a baby. Angel wasn't that bad on the show, but still.
Angel had been hating himself for a century and had clearly not been socialiazing a lot, which we see in Buffy, when he stands in the shadow and only speaks when he has to. Then on his own show, it's like he discovered that he had the right to talk, and he started talking like a normal person. Less sexy and mysterious and more... annoying.

I am stunned that anyone can call any part of the God that is Mr Boreanaz annoying....but on the other hand, his voice did change slightly. I put this down to David himself growing up, from the skinny baby faced Buffy Season 1 Angel, to the chunky but still hunky Angel Season 5. But of course the character did also mature into a more confident person, as he began to realise more and more how important he was. I can't say that it sounds like a "telemarketer's" voice but I shall conduct a little experiment by watching a Buffy S1 Episode and then an Angel S5 ep, to compare and contrast! hehe Ps. David did get quite chunky during Season 5 due to knee problems. He was not able to go to the gym, play his favourite sport, hockey or in one episode (post operation) walk!!

i think that his voice just changedober the course, it happens. him being heavier and with lobg hair is coz he had just done a film that needed him to be like that. i love him no matter what. things change through out, i beleive its still them still the same show with just a few tweaks.

I didn't notice it changed to be honest.
I do find it weird that Angel lost his Irish Accent..when Spike kept his British, it makes no sense.

A style of speech he adopted to get away from his uppercrust upbringing. He went from the more formal British accent to the rough Cockney one.

People do lose accents over time. My mom grew up in Lousiana but no longer has a Southern accent and hasn't for about 35 years. Plus, Spike is cooler with a British accent and it fits his personality. Angel's Irish accent doesn't really fit the "character" any more. It made for better TV.

I'm not sure when Angel lost his accent, but if he did it while living in America, that makes sense, if he wanted to blend in. Or maybe it just faded, since he lived there for a long time. From what I gather he and the rest of his "family" traveled a lot.

spike's accent was a front when he first got sired but after a hundred plus years of talkin like that i doubt that its still a "front"

I noticed that Angel's voice definately changed, and especially when Connor came along. At times they mumbled so bad i had to crank the volume because i couldn't hear them, but everything else was still normal volume, which would put me deaf and i had to turn the volume back down. Only for them to start talking in the monotone, background noise sounding voices again. A friend of mine described Angel's show as "Buffy, but with inside voices". I still love Angel, but yeah, that got annoying while it was still airing on t.v.

Voices and speech change. People lose their accents. It's totally reasonable that Angel lost his after moving to America. I was merely countering the example that Spike's accent was somehow more genuine than Angel's American accent. Spike's started out as something he forced on himself. I'm sure by now it's natural just as the way Angel speaks now is natural.

watching buffy season 1-3 and Angel season 1 again, his voice was more cocky in Buffy and more relaxed in angel and then in angel season 5, he voice was just made him sound really douchey.

Well in the earlier seasons he was supposed to be the silent broody character but he can't always be like that when he is the lead in his own show it wouldn't work.

My mom would come in my room and be like, "God why is your tv so loud?!" Me: "I can't hear what Angel is saying!" Mom: *stares quizzically and walks away*
