YAY HIM fans! I went to see them in Finland for their special and more intimate New Years Eve gig. Was incredible. Plus i saw Bam Mangera there. heh heh. O.M.G. I have wanted to go to their New Year's show for god knows how many years...I'm thinking it's about 5 and counting right now. I adore that band! Oy...This is fantastic that there are other HIM fans here, I love it! Also...I am falling in love with Bat for Lashes...She reminds me of Immie/Frou Frou

I'm not a curren HIM fan. I hated Dark Light and the newest one.
Love older music. Razorblade romance, Love Metal, Dark Shadows Brilliant Highlights. Was obsessed for a couple of years but really didn't like it after darklight. They went pop-ish and ruined their sound. I like raw and rough Valo. Bury Me Deep Inside Your Heart is still one of my favouritist songs ever!
Jealous that you got to see them though!!!!
YAY HIM FANS!

oh greer you must go! its brilliant!
Plus Helsinki is an awesomeeee city! LOVED it. Me and my friend pretty much lived out of vending machines for the week we were there just so we could spend all our money on random crap in the shops because the shopping there is mental...hugge shopping malls everywhere.
And yes bat for lashes are brillant. I cant wait for her new album Two Suns to come out soon. I have got a few tracks of it but not all.
My favs are 'daniel'/ 'moon and moon'/'sleep alone'/'pearls dream'
and from Fur and Gold I like 'Prescilla'/'horse and I'/'bats mouth'/'tahiti'.

Jess, I totally 100% agree with you about the HIM music...I adore Razorblade Romance and Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights... "Lose You Tonight", "Heartache Every Moment", "Again", and "Heaven Tonight" are my favorites. I feel like they really got...too poppy and sold out, in a way. Bam just decided to use their heartagram and plaster it everywhere, which is a pet peeve of mine. They do have 2 albums that are remixes of older songs and I adore them. Stakey, I will get to Helsinki someday and see them. I tried to study abroad there, but it didn't work with my schedule. I am going to Europe next summer(2010) so I hope to be able to make my way up there while I'm in the U.K. LOL at your subsisting on vending machines I am in love with Bat for Lashes! She's like an Imogen Heap/Sarah M hybrid. "Prescilla" and "Trophy" are my favorites right now.

Okay, this is a thread I could post to for days.....so here goes. First of all, Wilco is the best band in the world as far as I'm concerned. If you haven't ever listened to them, start out with "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" (no, those aren't all characters from Dollhouse!!!), and then try "A Ghost Is Born", "Being There", "Summerteeth", and "Sky Blue Sky". Their live disc, "Kicking Television" is also pretty great.
My other current favorite bands are My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists, Kings of Leon, The Raconteurs (or really, anything Jack White is involved with!!), and Ryan Adams. And I have also been on a big Dinosaur Jr kick the past few days since I'll be seeing them live in a couple of weeks.
Good calls on the Explosions In The Sky and Muse....I'm a big fan of both of those too. Death Cab, Radiohead, and The Shins are also all in pretty heavy rotation on my iPod. And for a little old-school rock, the newly released remasterd/expanded version of Pearl Jam's "Ten" is all sorts of awesome too.

Oh, seriously, I was just going through my music this morning thinking I wanted to burn a new cd of upbeat/happy/warmfuzzy stuff for long trips, and another cd for chilling at night. So I might be able to help you out, too! The upbeat stuff: Good Dancers... by Sleepy Jackson Close To Me... by The Cure Do It Better... by Happy Mondays Jenny... by Stellastarr Cherry-Coloured Funk... by Cocteau Twins Erase/Rewind... by The Cardigans Moonchild... by Cibo Matto Fly Away... by Black Eyed Peas Video... by India.Arie This stuff would be good for groovin'/chillin': We Float... by PJ Harvey Surfer Girl Replies... by Plumb Tengo Frio... by Ely Guerra Hands Away... by Interpol Smoke and Mirrors... by RJD2 Someday Soon... by Doves Just Like Honey... by Jesus & Mary Chain Midnight In A Perfect World... by DJ Shadow Near Fantastica... by Matthew Good ... and +1000 to Muse. You might also like to try Unkle, and VAST. I like to listen to all 3 of them together in Winamp, although Muse is my favorite band at the moment and Unkle runs an extreeeeemely close 2nd. Their sounds are all pretty complimentary of each other. I also second the Yeah Yeah Yeah's big time!

For Classical, I listen to Yo-Yo Ma for cello, The Sixteen for vocal. I also love any album including Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. Every track by them is exquisite.

I think there was a song of theirs in Season 2? It was when Buffy came back after killing the Master and got all up in Xander's personal space in a naughty way, on the dance floor. Moonchild's such an awesome song. Some of their stuff just makes me happy and chill. If you guys liked that one, try "Aqueous Transmission" by Incubus. Found the music at YT - www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4k5JWegwHg

Omj Greer I am so in love with you! You said it perfectly. My favourites apart from Bury me deep.. are beautiful (because it's my boyf's song to me so cute!!!) and Close to the flame, funeral of hearts, sweet pandemonium, fortress of tears, pretending, buried alive by love, please don't let it go...okay I'll stop, well I pretty much love all their old songs bar a few. Razorblade Romance, Love Metal, and Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666 are the bomb, oh and Deep Shadows. I love all the acoustics I have aswell. Esp Funeral of hearts!! HAHA They did a live cover of Backstreet Boys LARGER THAN LIFE, is so funny - and so random! So they WERE awesome and I still get excited whenever I listen to the old music but the new stuff makes me sad and it even annoys me. It's not like them and ville is all synthesised and studio-ed. And yeah, Bam sucks bum for ruining the heartagram. I hate it when he ruins things.

And yeah, Bam sucks bum for ruining the heartagram. I hate it when he ruins things. I've heard that Backstreet Boys song before done by HIM and it is hilarious! They're making fun of them too as they sing it, so yay on Ville! I just keep hoping that some of their songs will get back to the way they used to be--especially with some of the lyrics. I feel like they're not the same quality as they were before. It's almost too...rhymey? Just not as sad and dark as I usually like them! Venus Doom was the uber suck, sans Dead Lover's Lane, Love in Cold Blood, and I just like Song or Suicide because I can listen to Ville's voice pretty much by itself:) But, have you heard the remixes of Love in Cold Blood and Dead Lover's Lane? They were on the special editions that were on their website a couple years ago. If not, let me know. They are much better than their originals.

Love in cold blood is a good one, but I didn't fancy any of the others, t yeah I totally agree with you! I haven't heard those two remixes sorta stopped following them, as did my boyf (and he did all the song d/l-ing so I haven't had anything new bar the albums - cos we lost interest!) I like my HIM dark, raw, and original! Their new stuff is all the same as each other, and over-produced!
