Well, funeral saved for the opening sequence would set the tone quite nicely. It would be a mighty deviation from the book, since that one opens with the happy wedding stuff. But this movie pretty much affirmed my suspicion that there would be no wedding (even when reading the book, I figured it for one of the more disposable scenes). For one, the Burrow is gone (guess the attack from Book 7 was brought forward and dramatized). For another, Bill who featured quite prominently in Book 6 didn't appear at all, which leads me to believe that the Weasley clan has been culled to just Ron, Ginny, the twins, probably Percy (though we haven't seen him in ages), Molly, and the dad. Which is fine and all... trimming the fat is always a good principle when it comes to film adaptations.

Yeah I doubt the final films will focus on Bill and Fleur any, if at all.

I just want to see Gringotts again! And McGonagall go apeshit with the dueling. Woman is always so composed, I totally got a kick out of her leading an army. I heart Maggie Smith... she pretty much makes any movie worth watching by playing the bitter old hag that everyone hates on. Except for HP; she's just so damn classy in these films. That and she's usually hilarious.

I love Maggie Smith too, and Professor McGonnagall is one of my favorite characters from the series. She is just such a badass character for a 70+ year old, smart mouth. Love her.

The owl dies?! I'd rather every character in the series die before that poor guy!

Yeah... Hedwig dies a rather inglorious death very early on in the 7th book. It took me a while to register it... poor Hedwig.

I'm betting Jo had no clue what they would do with Hedwig on their journey, so she killed her. But there's also the whole metaphor of how Hedwig was his real connection between the worlds of Muggle adn Magic, and now that she is dead, it is time for him to take his place in just the one world.

Also Bill is bitten/scratched in book 7 by Greyback, so maybe they'll have bonding between him and Moony. Erm... Bill is mauled in Book 6, not Book 7. Unless you meant Film 7.

Seen it today. Thought it was very good movie. It was a very good adaption of the book, with some changes, but that was expected. I thought it was good to see more of Draco in this movie, cuz we haven't really seen much of him in the last 2 movies. Love all the H/Hr moments, looked away or suppressed a groan at the R/H scenes, but I loved all the humour and the scene where everyone is standing around Dumbledore's body was very emotional. Very good movie

I'm really annoyed to find out that the same director is doing the next two movies as well.
I enjoyed the film, but there was so much that I didn't understand why they changed it, like the ending with Harry just standing there was awful, and no fight in the castle with the death eaters - they just stood there too. And the Burrow scene was pointless, crap and other scenes could have been included instead.
Ginny was awful. Was her tying his shoe supposed to be romantic??! Cause it just seemed really really dumb.

I couldn't be happier that Yates is doing it. The other films that he hasn't done were very good, but Yates is the only director that makes the films really stand out as not only good Harry Potter adaptations, but fantastic films that stand on their own.

I just saw it this afternoon. I haven't read the book in about 4 years, so I can't remember what was left out and what was changed dramatically. I really enjoyed it for what was in the movie; but I feel it wasn't as good at #5. I'm still upset about Sirius, what can I say? It was good but I know it's a filler movie, up until the fantastic wonderfulness that the 2 #7s will be.
