For the curious, I have read confirmations that: Dumbledore's funeral is one of the opening scenes (or probably the first scene) in the next film. I can't remember exactly where, but it would make sense - they'll want to establish more clearly Dumbledore's wand as being one of the keys of the DH story.

hey those are awesome news! i was going to write about the void that i felt after watching the movie because of the no funeral.
i loved this movie. my boyfriend is a hardcore potter fan he has read the books about ten times now and according to him this is by far the best book adaptation.
i read them once and i loved them all and i can say that this movie doesn't let you down at all.

don't you mean all the camping of Hallows? lol, i'm just kidding, it's an awesome book.
in A Very Potter Musical, they're trying to think of where teh final Horcrux is and Hermione says "It could be hidden somewhere along the mundane British countryside. Our search could entail months of depressing camping, breaking into Gringotts and drinking boatloads of Polyjuice Potion." and then Harry says "Well.....that's dumb, so we're not gonna do that."

I haven't seen this yet and should've stayed away from this thread but couldn't help myself... so I've been reading everyones reviews and comments, and while some of you loved it I'm not going to go in with too high expectations! I like the movies but have learnt from the past that I mustn't go in expecting the books, because that ALWAYS disappoints me, even number 5! I'm going tomorrow night so will report back in with my thoughts

I'm seeing this with my sis and niece tomorrow. I haven't been excited at all for this movie(the books will always be better) but I'm starting to get excited. Could be because it was months ago since I read the book, which means I won't sit and compare the movie to the book.

Best movie so far. I haven't read the book in while, which meant I didn't go ”That didn't happen in the book!” the entire time like usually, which helped me like the movie better, but I have to say, some scenes where brilliant, even comparing to the book's version(as far as I remmeber). Harry comforting Hermione, and Harry and Ginny in the room of acquirement were great bonding-moments, and the Ron&love-potion scene was hilarious.
There's other scenes that made this movie the best of the bunch(and the editing was great too, great angles, great effects) but those are the ones I remember now.
Important things were missing of course, like when Harry tells Ginny that they can't be together right now, and the scene with the prime minister, but the movie is still good.
But I wonder how it was justified that Snape told Harry that he was the half-blood prince with such a mocking tone in the end. I was pretty tired when watching the movie just a few minutes ago(I haven't slept for about 30 hours). Did Snape take the book from Harry after he and Draco battled or what? Why else would be tell Harry about the book?
Anyway, can't wait for the other movies. Even tough I hope they re-make the books into 7 TV mini-series or a several seasons serie. Maybe in a decade or two. The Harry Potter books will thrall people for decades to come, so they'll probably make a re-make.

Snape never took the book from Harry after his duel with Draco, but he recognised the spell Sectumsempra that Harry had used, as Snape had created that very spell and thus knew Harry had been reading his old potions book

Well.
I loved it. And I think that has to do with the fact I HAVEN'T (on purpose) read that books in ages. I loved the effects, the acting was MILES better, the humour was a pleasant surprise, as I haven't really found anything in the other films laugh out loud funny (love potion, drunk Hagrid/Slughorn, Lavender/WonWon, and other random and unexpectingly funny lines!), and quite a few things were exactly as I imagined them (such as the retrieval of the "horcrux"). I thought Horace Slughorn was wonderful as well, exactly as I wanted him to be!
Even without reading the book recently I did obviously notice differences and 'added' scenes. But overall I didn't mind them because I mostly felt the film did justice to my idea of the Harry Potter world.
I still love the books infinity times more, but I'm warming up to these movies and seeing them in their own element. I found myself just sitting back and enjoying this one and letting it 'remind me' of the the story without attacking it for down-to-the-page details, so it's got one up on all the others! Haha.
Obviously there are things people will always feel 'could/should have been better' but this time I'm happy to just say "Okay, I'm satisfied with that".

Simple, have Ginny play a larger role by having her remember seeing the diadem, and taking Harry to it. At least one possible solution.

That could work.
I didn't like that she had such small part in the books and then Ooopps, Harry is in love.

Aren't we lead to believe in society that love can be very sudden, BOOM, two people that barely new each other suddenly are attracted to each other. She'd had a crush on him since she was eleven, and he was constantly around her. He often spent time at her home, and they went to school together. Also, he saved her life. They knew each other very, very well. It was as organic as a blossoming love can get, the way I see it.

The same can be said for the book POV. Ginny only featured quite extensively in Book and Film 2, during which, it's established quite clearly that she does have a crush on Harry. I can't remember how much she appears in the next few books, but I'd wager that she's a small presence, if any at all. Pretty sure she's in Book 5, but Harry didn't feel romantically for her at that point... still kinda in a Cho daze. And it's only suddenly in Book 6 that Harry starts thinking that Ginny "has nice skin", usually shown through mild fits of jealousy whenever she's snogging Dean. And so, I'd say that the films are a fair representation of the books in that regard.

What I remember from the books is that when the Weasley's(can't spell it) and Harry hung out, Ginny was often there. I guess that's how they got to know each other. Not that much alone-time tough, so I was fairly surprised when Harry suddenly fell for Ginny. Or that Ginny still liked Harry.
I guess it was under the surface.

Evidently we have not seen the same comedies.
I wonder if The Night Lord was joking or not. He did write "seriously", but it could still be a joke.

Haha, I'm half-joking. IMO, I think Ginny did use a love potion on Harry. Why else would he go for her anyway? Never really seen any attraction from him to her throughout the books, except that sporatic moment in HBP and the ending in DH
