*laughs* It'll be entertaining, but you will probably find yourself mocking it for than anything else. I personally thought that the movie and its sequel could suck golf balls through a narrow hose. Haven't watched the prequel, but from all accounts that I'm aware of, it's pretty awful.

Out of all three films, I found Underworld: Rise of the Lycans to be the best. I already knew what was going to happen as do you since you watched the others but it just... I can't explain it. It seemed more epic. I'll post other stuff later.

Well, I've always liked Underworld (Selene! PVC! Drooool) and the second one was good, though I have to laugh every time I watch Selene & Michael have sex *snicker*. I saw the prequel in the cinemas and quite enjoyed it. Overall, the Underworld trilogy is one of my favourite movie series. Maybe I'm just a violence junkie and love chicks in leather...

i haven't seen the prequel but i saw the other 2 movies and really liked them. the true test for me is if a movie is worth buying though, and sadly those movies aren't IMO.

Definitely gonna buy the prequel when it comes out on DVD. My girlfriend loves the trilogy and with the prequel, we can have a marathon...and laugh at the sex scene. So bad :

I dunno... I thought the sex scene was pretty good.... though I knew before watching it that she was actually married to the director, so the lingering shots made sense Oh, and the first completely rocked the second. I mean, it was okay, but it just left me wanting more. And then we learnt that Selene wouldn't be making any more appearances with Kate Beckinsale vowing never to reprise the role.

Seriously? Oh damn, well that sucks, cuz I've been wondering what will happen after Evolution Yup. Kate Beckinsale said something to the effect of "I'm tired of being the sex symbol."

Yup. Kate Beckinsale said something to the effect of "I'm tired of being the sex symbol." Unfortunately, Kate... when you're not quite known for your acting chops... you either suck up being a sex symbol, or fade away into oblivion. At least in Hollywood.

Well, she is married to a successful director. My guess is money isn't an issue and she wants to make movies she can take her daughter to (i.e. "Click").

I really like Underworld.
I prefer TV to film, but as far at these ones go they're pretty good in my opinion. I love the vamp v werewolf in modern city theme, and the romance is always good. Plus a bit of supernatural mythos and I'm satisfied. Lol. They're nothing amazing but I didn't not like anything about them

I thought their romance was sweet in the first one, but then a bit rushed and melodramatic in the second.

Yeah, they fall in love, have sex, die, get resurrected by their powers and have all that drama...all in one night

I loved the first Underworld - it was unexpectedly good with great performances (particularly from Michael Sheen as Lucien) and some great plot twists. Then the sequel came out and destroyed the whole franchise for me. I went to see it on opening day with another big fan of the original and we left half-asleep. There are few things I loathe more in sequels than making the main character from the original film some sort of destined hero following a set role (vomit now) and creating a huge, unnecessary and implausible back story for them (all the stuff about her father). The first film didn't rely on anything like that - the characters were not tied together by fate but by circumstance and motive. It really reminds me of the trashy job done to the Mummy sequel where suddenly Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weiss both have identical tattoos that neither have noticed before and are in fact the Heroes of Time or some such nonsense. It's always just laughable. I haven't seen the third film, probably will at some point. Given that I hated Underworld:Evolution for the reasons listed, can anyone give me advice about whether i'll like the third film?

You see how the war between the Vampires & Werewolves began, which is pretty cool. Does that help?

But i remember how that war started from the first film - didn't Lucien and Viktor's daughter have an illicit relationship so Viktor killed his pregnant daughter and the war began? Do they change that canon ('cos that would really piss me off) or do they just expand on it?

They expand on it. The scene in U1 where Sonja is killed before Lucian's eyes is repeated in U3, though it's slightly different, but it's pretty much expanded on. It shows that the Lycans were slaves to the Vampires and how the war began

That's pretty cool - i'll check it out. Is it still Michael Sheen as Lucien and Bill Nighy as Viktor?
