My friend and i were talking about what were to happen if Dollhouse was cancelled. We talked about Firefly and how the DVD sales did so well, and we assume that's why Serenity was made... We came up with a few reasons FOX either won't or shouldn't cancel Dollhouse - As Whedon Fans, we will buy ANYTHING!
[/i][/u] and FOX know this. Prime example: Firefly. The reason it was made is because DVD sales did so well... same with Family Guy. It was cancelled in 2002 for obvious reasons and when the DVDs came out, the numbers were strong and FOX brought it back. [/li][li]The ratings aren't terrible. They could use some larger numbers, but shows have gone on with fewer... (Reaper, anyone?) [/li][/ul] I googled "Dollhouse Cancellation" and i found an article about how if FOX cancels Dollhouse, Joss wants to do a movie called, "Echo" to premiere in 2011... Just my theory... thoughts? what do you guys think will happen if Dollhouse gets cancelled?

Honestly? If the show does get cancelled, we will get the series released on DVD and Blu-Ray and that will probably be it. Dollhouse most likely won't become the critical and fan success that Firefly was, so any future properties like movies just seem unlikely at this point.
I am just going to hope it doesn't get canceled.

I'll be an optimist and say that Dollhouse is doing well enough to go on for another season.

Serenity was greenlit before Firefly came out on DVD, so the sales didn't matter much at all. If Dollhouse doesn't improve, I'd say it has a huge chance of getting canned, but I'm going to remain hopeful. If it does, we'll still have 13 episodes of Joss television. Better than nothing at all, I guess.

But then again, Joss loves his projects. He'd make "Echo" in a heartbeat if he was ever really behind it. Maybe put it on the internet as a web-movie... expand the internet entertainment market

i feel like at this point, it is going to get a second season... maybe not a full 22 episode season, but i feel VERY[/u][/i] confidant that it will get renewed.

I don't think it will get cancelled as a lot of reviewers say that it has a lot of potential - and that each episode unravels a new twist, or carries on with one to build up suspense. Which is what makes the show so great!
Off topic question: After the first season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, was there controversy about cancellation. It always crossed my mind after watching Firefly and Dollhouse. So does anyone know if Buffy was facing a cancellation early on like most of Whedon's shows?

absolutely it was... in season 1, all of the actors were concerned it wasn't gonna get picked up and Joss was actually preparing for cancellation and 6 years later, it's still going on.

I hope Fox doesn't cancel Dollhouse! I mean, if they were smart they'd know that Joss's series always don't get the GREATEST ratings in the world but he has a THOUSAND more fans than any other writer out there. And, if they see what happened to Firefly and how it became a feature film then they would be absolute idiots if they even consider cancelling it. Joss should start up his own Network, airing all his shows
