www.pagesix.com/story/sarah+michelle+gellar+not+headed+wonderlandSarah Michelle Gellar has been yanked as the title character in Alice, PageSix.com has learned. The former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star was to headline in the latest "Eat me, Drink me" flick inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland stories. But now a source tells PageSix.com that casting directors are in talks with another actress, former Lost star Maggie Grace. Ironically, Grace, 24, is currently starring opposite Gellar, 30, in Suburban Girl, alongside Alec Baldwin. Though no contract has been signed, Grace was always director Marcus Nispel's second choice, according to sources. The movie, based on the computer game American McGee's Alice, is slated for release next summer. The story picks up Alice's tale a few years after her first adventures in Wonderland. She's now a disturbed young woman mourning the death of her parents as she returns to the land of talking animals and the wicked Queen of Hearts. But fear not, Buffy fans, all is not lost. According to recent reports, everyone's favorite vampire slayer might be set for a small-screen return. "Never say never," Gellar's rep, Leslie Sloane-Zelnick, tells us. PageSix.com can also confirm that Gellar has been offered guest roles on several existing cable and network TV shows. This is good news if you ask me!!!

I know this sounds weird but I honestly don't wanna see Sarah as a guest star on a TV show, she's better than that she's a star. Although Maggie Grace should be good for the role of Alice.

Actually, I don't think she is looking to guest. She wants to be the star of a new show. I think the article is saying that she is being offered guest spots but is looking for a stare role. I hear she is looking at 2 pilots. One is about a house wife whom moonlights as a high class call girl to the rich and famous. It is bassed on a book. The other....I can not remember what it is about. let me look into it and get back to you

^^ That's good I would definately rather see her star in a new show, as long as it doesn't get cancelled like all of the other new shows.

I just want her to do something worth watching, television or movies! I was looking forward to Alice but it has been in development-hell for some time now and I'm losing hope.

Iv herd PAGESIX.com got it wrong. SMG is meant to be still in with the film. I don't want her to go back to TV shes better then that. And i don't think she could find a tv show that will do her justice. I think 2008 will be her year. Shes gunna have lots of films coming out and such so i think she will be the actress of the year and all. Oh well more talked about and such

I personally think that tv is the place to be. Female driven movies seem to be failing lately (The Golden COmpas, Invasion, Preminission.....). Look at tv though, Greys Anatomy, Nip Tuck, The Closer, Saving Grace, Womens Murder Club, Dirt, Weeds.....
Now is a great time for talanted women in TV.

I think it would be really funny if she gueststarred on Moonlight.

I feel she should stick to movies. With the way the Air i Breath is being you'd up about how big its going to be i thinks he will find herself getting lots more offerers for great films. I just cant see her in another t.v show. I mean a few guest spots would be good. Like on Supernatural and such but i don't thinkt heres a show she could work on again that would make her as big as when she was in Buffy

Sarah has not mentioned anything about tv shows so I am thinking maybe that was a rumor. She has however said that she is still very much attached to Alice and that she is in face the owner of the writes. She also said that it is kinda in development heck because the studio who was suposed to pay for it got bought out by another studio. The writers strike is not helping either, seeing as there is no script yet. Sarah has said that this is her pashion project and that she is fooing everything she can to get the movie made!

This is really disappointing to me.I'm a HUGE Alice in Wonderland fan and when I heard about Gellar possibly being in the role I was very excited. Oh well.

She is still doing Alice according this RadioFree interview last month:
RadioFree.com: Are you still doing Alice?
SARAH: Hopefully. I mean, it’s a passion project of mine. It’s a story that I’d love to see. I’m fearful at this rate that I’m going to be the Queen of Hearts because I’m going to be too old to be Alice. [laughs] It’s something I’d really like to see done. And unfortunately, it was the victim of regime change in the studio. And I’m not getting out. And contrary to what you may have read, it’s still my project. [laughs] And I’m still working diligently. So to all those Alice fans, I’m not giving up. Because I believe there is such a beautiful, crazy, cool, twisted story to be told there. [jokes] And if I have to get down and write it myself one of these days, I may have to...
