From Buffy.nu
Veronica Mars might be looking at a quick graduation from Hearst College.
The fate of the CW’s cult favorite remains uncertain, but if the show returns for a fourth season in the fall, it might find the young sleuth in a different setting.
"Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas has come up with an idea to fast-forward a couple of years and have Mars studying at the FBI Academy. (As a freshman at Hearst College, Mars (Kristen Bell) has been taking criminology classes and been looking to do an internship at the FBI.)
Thomas is filming a trailer for the alternative fourth season of the Warner Bros.
TV/Silver Pictures show, which will be submitted to the CW. The network’s executives ultimately will decide whether to pick up the series for another season and, if they do, whether to stick to the drama’s current plot line or go with the new version.
If Mars goes to the FBI Academy next season, it will be a third backdrop for the character, who began her P.I. adventures while in high school.

I am so sad about this. I've been depressed all day. Please CW pick up Veronica Mars. I think it would be very cool to see Veronica in the FBI. I guess we'll have to wait until May to see what happens.

With all of the attention this is getting, I bet we will know before May. If the CW passes on it, I bet USA or TNT or TBS or SOMEONE picks it up!! It is sure to be higher profile after being droped and picked back up....maybe :/

Yeah, I sure hope so! Hopefully they can get Joss Whedon to be a series regular in S4 that would rope in the viewers!

I'm sure they'll figure out a way to have Logan around considering he's such a fan favorite. There are so many places the story can go as far as Veronica being in the FBI, so I really hope it does get picked up in its new format.

In the latest EW magazine, they predict that VM will be cancelled. Which is surprising to me with the devoted following it seems to have and the investment of companies into making statues, etc of the characters. Hopefully, this new pitch will grab the CW execs to give it another year.

I really hope that the show does continue for at least one year. I haven't seen any of the third season yet because of missing the very first episode. I will wait until the DVD comes out to watch the third season. I loved the first and second seasons. It is sad to see a show end on network terms rather than the show itself ending the way that Buffy did.

Go to www.saveveronicamars.tv/ to learn what you can do to save the show. I would hate to lose the rest of the cast if they do the fast forward thing...but I would hate losing the show altogether even more....

I read that they have Enrico Colantoni and Jason Dohring under a 5 year contract as they do with Kristen Bell. So HOPEFULLY, they won't be going anywhere. I'm more worried about the show actually coming back than who will be on it at the moment.

im worried about it coming back too, i was just saying, if it does, i dont want it to be completely ruined. I want it to end on a good note, rather than come back with no one and suck.... but thats just me. it wouldnt be the same show without the pals... thats like buffy without willow. come on now...gotta have willow.

I, along with every other VM fan, regrets and just really hates to hear this bad news about Veronica Mars. However, to make a few points about previous messages, CW's decisions are not surprising at all, because throughout the series history it's rating performance has been decidely under expectations and what's required by CW mgmt for continuation. Another point regarding VM's future the chances of another network picking up a network's discards are almost non-existant, regardless of .fan's devotion and ardor and the perceived critical acclaim. The five year contract deal is routine in almost all series currently.
Veronic Mars has probably seen it's last season and it bSUCKS.
