Anybody play The Sims (1, 2, or the soon to be released 3)? I go through phases where I cannot stop playing, then when I simply cannot stand to play. lol I just picked up Sims 2 last week. I don't have any expansions yet. I've got Sims 1 and most of the expansions for it, but I'm really digging Sims 2 a lot more. I bet #3 will be even better. The other night I couldn't help but make the Dollhouse crew - Echo, November, Sierra, and Victor. Last night I made a "Scooby" family: Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles, and Dawn. Dawn is a spaz and Buffy's a cop and Willow and Xander are dating. Are there any Sims sites out there for us Whedonites?

I had to stop playing. Every single day I'd feel like I was playing for an hour or two, but really I'd just sit at the computer for literally the entire day. I remember making a few Buffy families, but most of my time was spent making myself and Denise Richards.
I still have the Sims 1 and all the expansion packs somewhere, this sort of makes me want to install them again. Must resist!

I played a lot of the original game, probably 6-7 years ago. Really addictive. My brother and I had all the expansion packs and had a blast with it. Played The Sims 2 some as well, but never as much as I did the original.

YESSS I also go through periods where I'm completely obsessed with the game, take for instance this years spring break and a large part of last summer. Currently, I'm in a 'mehh' phase, but this thread is making me want to go grab the disc and play it again...

I go through phases as well. Sometimes I spend days playing other times it just bores me! Not sure about sims 3, I don't really like the look of the gameplay. Also, I hate having to constantly buy expansion packs. I'm not made of money!

Well, I'm happy to see other people wrestling with addiction like me. lol
I got up this morning, watched some news, had my coffee, and resisted playing for a whole 5 minutes.
One thing I really don't like about Sims 2 is that everybody ages. In Sims 1 I used to love to take my time, get the house really nice, get all their skills maxed out, get them to meet a ton of people to see what kind of trouble I could get them into. Now, I barely get them situated and in a good job, with money coming in, before it's like 12 days until they're elderly, and they haven't even fallen in love or decided on having kids.
I keep the game on fast forward most of the time... maybe that's the problem. LOL
But you know, part of the funny of this game is going at 3x speed because damn it's hilarious.

UnKle, I use "motherlode" cheat for money and use elixer of life to "stop" aging. That is when I played. I don't anymore, waiting for Sims 3/when I get a couple thousand dollars and build myself my dream gaming computer

Aging is my favorite thing in Sims2. Gives you an incentive to get things done.
Another problem with the sims, is when I do play it takes about 5 mins to load up and then when I close it down it takes another 10 mins!

to be honest, the whole idea of Sims kinda freaks me out. controlling people, having the power to kill them, starve them, tell them when to and when not to have sex or talk to people or go over here and go over there...it just weirds me out...

I absolutely love this game. I used to play it mostly on my computer (but I can't with the computer I have now, it doesn't have sound, so it'd be intensely boring).
I do have the Sims 2 for my Playstation2. I do get in phases where one day I can't stop playing it (and literally waste hours on it), and then I'll be in a phase where I don't even play it or only play it for a few minutes before getting bored with it.
I do love the game for the computer better though, it has a lot more options that I like. But the Sims 2 for the PS2 isn't bad either, but it is a pain to figure some of the stuff out.

Oh. my. god. Becky. Someone's made OMWF into a Sims musical. Haha, it's great. "Anay86" or "debosimtastic", is that anyone here? www.youtube.com/user/debosimtasticwww.youtube.com/user/Anay86 (page 2 and 3 of their vids) I remember back when I had Sims 1 and all the expansion packs a long time ago, I actually made Buffy's house and seems like I had blueprints or something I downloaded from the net. But I also used stills I made from video. It was a lot of fun. I think I might have made the Magic Box, too, but I can't remember. I just remember it was a pain in the backside getting everyone in the house off to work and school every day (I did S6, and later S7, BtVS, lol). I also remember now, I made Scully's apartment and built Roseanne's house (post-lottery). lol Yeah, Sims is awesome.

The Sims 3 is pretty good, unlike the last games, you can choose the aging scale from short (25 Sim days) to Epic (960 Sim Days) or turn it off altogether in options, been playing it for a bit (adv vendor copy ) and it really is a good Sims game for the most part.

oh lord yeah there are times I'm totally addicted and play nonstop for 20 hours one thing I love is to build walls around a sim and then starve it, watching it peeing its pants, crying, finally dieing of hunger, or place a fire place beside it and light it and watch it burn then I usually get annoyed and start a new game lol
