Howdy Anyone else see The Mist? Its a Stephen King adaption, and I really enjoyed it. Its known by critics for its shocking ending, which I loved but I was shocked for hours afterwards lol. Its stars Thomas Jane, and Marica Gay Harden (who is amazing in her role but soooooo annoying). If you havent seen it Id advise you to see it. Lee

I am a big fan of this film, and the novella as well. Darabont kept it very faithful to the source material, and really only played around with the ending. I am glad they changed the ending as well, as it was shocking, bold, brave and daring and Stephen King later said he preferred it to his own ending. One of my favorite horror films in recent years.

I have to agree...one of the best horrors in years.
Im a HUGE King fan so any adaptation ill watch at some point. Im just gutted I never saw it in the cinema.
but regardless, great film with great performances, especially from marcia. What a crazy bitch she was, lol.
Heartbreaking ending, pretty brutal, pure King style so Im glad to hear he prefer it to his ending and didnt get all uppity about it. I know he was never a big fan of Kubricks The Shining.
Also random side-bar...would I be right in saying theres an IT remake on the horizon.
I read something in EMPIRE (best film mag of all time.end.of.) that a remake of IT was going to be set in the 80s...but Iv coompletely missed any mention of the remake in the first place.
anyway, back to topic...the mist is great.lol.

I watched The Mist a couple of months ago and was surprosed by the ending, so much so that I sat glued to the screen even after the credits had rolled. I must admit though it did make a nice change from everything being rounded up and everybody living happily ever after.

The mist is amazing, anything stephen king is. And i love the ending such a shock compared to most movies that always have a survivor of the bunch.. it leaves you thinking that's for sure and it reminds me of bit of the ending of 24 weeks later or just the feel of it anyway.

what was so awesome about this movie:
subconsciously, you could see the ending coming, but you're still soooo shocked when you see it. or at least i was.

I have no interest in watching this. Its too similar to The Fog (which I wasn't too fond of).
Sorry, I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade. Besides, my brother already spoiled the ending anyway.

it wasn't really like the fog... that was demons/ghosts right? this is creepy, otherworldly... things.
oh and Alexa Davalos (Gwen) is in it too.

I watched this for the first time last Sunday and actually thought it was decent. The end particularly stood out for me and made the film seem better I don't know why, I mean without spoiling anyone too much, it wasn't your normal ending but still had me smiling. Not necessarily happily at it though just kind of surprised. Overall a not bad film, Thomas Jane was pretty effective in it I would say:)

it wasn't really like the fog... that was demons/ghosts right? this is creepy, otherworldly... things. oh and Alexa Davalos (Gwen) is in it too. So ghosts aren’t otherworldly? lol. This is how I look at it, the mist/fog rolls in where evil creatures lurk. EDIT: 7:30pm So after my last post, I finally decided to actually watch The Mist but with little expectations. Cool characters except for Brent and Jim. William Sadler seems to play a douche in every movie which makes him lousy actor. Andre Braugher is a good actor but like Sadler, I always dislike his characters but I’m sure that’s how Frank Darabont wanted us to feel. Hm…the monsters could have been better, I wasn’t too fond of the special effects which brought them to life. I know that I’m sounding negative but I actually did enjoy it. Much better than The Fog. I was upset to see Alexa Davalos’s character die. Its always a drag to see Whedonverse alumni killed off in other projects. Bwahaha…the Sherminator. Although I knew the ending, it was still a shock. That must really suck. At least it gave us closure unlike the novel.
