why is the show Angel abbreviated to AtS? i get that Buffy is BtVS. B for Buffy, T from The, V for Vampire and S for Slayer, but why is Angel AtS? is it Angel the Slayer or something?

It stands for Angel the Series (AtS). Since the abbreviation "A" doesn't really work, fans came up with AtS. I didn't know it existed until I joined last year.

This took me a while to figure out, as well. Although I DID figure it out all on my own.

I didn't know why it was called that either. Especially because AtS is only two letters shorter than ANGEL, you might as well just call it that. I'm so confused and scared.

Yeah, but if you just called it "Angel" people could get confused as to whether you're refering to the character or the series. For instance "Buffy" generally refers to the character and "BtVS" reffers to the series. Hence why people sometimes call the show "Angel: the series", and that gets abreviated to "AtS".
Some people might heart the series but hate the lead character. So if they said "I heart Angel" it leaves causes confusion.

And since you have to put quote marks around "Angel" to show that you're talking about the series, not the character, that's actually 4 characters more than just typing AtS, so AtS is definitely the quickest way of saying it...

Uh oh...
Okay, here's my proposal. From now on, Doctor Horrible is abreviated to DrH. Sound fair?

DrH works, I think.

See the Dollhouse vs. Dr. Horrible thing really did drive me a bit mad because I'd been calling Dr. Horrible DH ever since it came out. Then when people started calling Dollhouse DH, my brain exploded.
Ok, DrH it is. *nods*

DH doesn't work for me. Been seeing it all over the internet for years for that Desperate Housewives show. Mass confusion.

Yeah, plus it just seems wrong. It's not like the show is called Doll House. It's one word - Dollhouse.
Dollhouse, dollhouse, doll-frickin-house!
