Joss just did an interview with The Independent (in the UK) and finally (indirectly) addresses that nagging remark he made at Paleyfest about the comics-as-canon vs. a possible movie-as-canon: So it's official: the comics are 100% what Joss wanted Season 8 to be, and there is no conflict between them and the movie that he knew wouldn't happen. The complete interview is here.

Thanks for posting that. Nice to see that they can't even get the chief penciller's name right...

This is the same interview that thought the movie Serenity spawned Firefly. *starts slow clap*

Always cool to read what he thinks of season 8.

It'll be nice if this finally puts an end to this subject for awhile. I look forward to it coming up again in another 5 years or so, tho, when Nick is close to 45, Aly is 40, Sarah's in her late-'30s, and there'll still be fans saying "They should do a movie, but set it between S7 and S8"...

LMAO I can so see people doing that too. * sigh * I wouldn't mind a movie if they could make it work as after S8/S9, but I find that incredibly unlikely.
Seriously, two errors in the same article? I'm surprised they didn't call him Josh Wheldon. I have to admit I've never considered Buffy "cult" status, I mainly preserve that for more offlandish things like RHPS and things like that. But seeing as his audience literally picks up and moves to whatever project he's working on, it seems the cult status belongs to Whedonites, not just Buffyverse addicts. It just really surprises me how unpopular he is to the general audience. I only say that because of things like this... where the projects of a man some refer to as "God" is misreported in what seems to be a reputable news organization. It's just another reminder to me that not everyone is familiar with his projects, and I find that incredibly sad.
