So I was just wondering, did anyone else notice that both Fred and Angel had to see Jasmine before they stopped being her minion but Lorne, Wes and Gunn just had to have the blood mixed without actually seeing her.
It's just one of those Joss things I'm sure where the story matters more than continuity like how easy it was to kill the uber vamps in Chosen but the first one took multiple episodes, but it just bugged me I guess.

You know what? i think that the ubervamp thing was a huge flaw of Season 7. It was just ridiculous that it took several episodes for bUFFY to slay one stupid vampire, making it look like it would be impossible to win in the end against a whole army of them, and then it took a few minutes for a bunch of new slayers to slay tons of them in the finale.

Well, maybe the first uber vamp was the best and that's why The First sent it. It was a different, kinda like ordinary vamps can be stronger and eaker(for example Spike & Angel could kick butt better than many vamps).
So I can fanwank that. The Jasmine thing is a mystery tough. They must have seen her somehow. A picture? Did they sneak up on here?
No good theories comes to mind.

Is it a goof? Yeah, probably. But it's probably an intentional goof--they needed to move the story forward into the period where the gang was back together and on the run from the Jasmaniacs, so it just wasn't worth the time it would've taken for a drawn-out plot contrivance simply for the sake of having Lorne, Gunn, and Wes see Jasmine's face. You're just supposed to accept that the spell was broken and move on. But if you really need an explanation, then try this: Fred and Angel were cured by Jasmine's blood, but the other three were cured by Cordy's blood, so apparently Cordy's blood worked differently and was more of an insta-cure.

I always saw it not as a flaw, but as an example of the scythe's power. I imagined it to be like an extra fuel. The Slayers were supercharged (including Buffy and Faith) when they faced the ubers in Chosen, so it was easier than in Showtime. Just my theory Or, the first Uber was more powerful than the others. The "ubest-vamp" LOL

I'm sure it was a purposeful continuity issue I guess it just bugged me becuase of how long Fred would have been cured and how she NEEDED Angel to look at Jasmine before he'd stop trying to kill her. I think watching everything all in a row is a problem, you see all the flaws. However I do think it's important sometimes to just move the story along which is what they did here.

you do raise a good point! karma for... noticing things...?
anyway, i always just thought that the blood cancelled out the brainwashing caused by Jasmine.

Maybe it just had to be brought to their attention.
Fred was busy washing, Angel was busy attacking, so they needed to see Jasmine to get the message. Perhaps the others just needed to hear that she was bad and they were good to go.
It's good that we have these kinds of threads to be able to fanwank stuff properly. Specially when it comes to Angel season 4 stuff, that is hard enough to watch without the errors(I can only cpme up with three tough, the jasmine one and a hair cut and a face cut of Angels')

Ok Sky, forgive me for this dumb question, but i have never heard "fanwanking" before... what is it? When the fans notice the errors about what they love? I can't know if i'm "fanwanking properly" until i know what fanwanking is, lol. Fanwanking- it just sounds so.... like something you shouldn't do around oscillating devices hahaha.

I was actually joking about this in another thread, about how it sounded naughty when I said "fanwanking hard" and that not everyone might understand the term, just the "wanking hard"-part. It means that if fans discover things they don't like on a show(or in a book or other kinds of entertainment I guess), for example continuity errors, things done by characters(not so sure about the last one), they try to explain it. Like what we do in this thread, trying to come up with a satisfying explanation to this error. And what is a oscillating device? A machine that can't handle certain... liquids?

Oh, ok! That makes much more sense haha. And judging by the definition of oscillate (i meant it like an oscillating fan that moves back and forth) no...i don't think it can handle certain liquids. Or any liquids haha. That's an emergency room visit waiting to happen lmao. os⋅cil⋅late /ˈɒsəˌleɪt/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [os-uh-leyt] Show IPA verb, -lat⋅ed, -lat⋅ing. –verb (used without object) 1. to swing or move to and fro, as a pendulum does. 2. to vary or vacillate between differing beliefs, opinions, conditions, etc.: He oscillates regularly between elation and despair. 3. Physics. to have, produce, or generate oscillations. 4. Mathematics. (of a function, sequence, etc.) to tend to no limit, including infinity: The sequence 0, 1, 0, 1, … oscillates. –verb (used with object) 5. to cause to move to and fro; vibrate. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Origin: 1720–30; < L oscillâtus (ptp. of oscillâre to swing, ride on a swing), equiv. to oscill(um) a swing + -âtus -ate 1 Synonyms: 1. See swing 1 . 2. fluctuate, waver.

Do I need to get my head out of the gutter?

No, my head stays in the gutter- but i guess i just have an odd sense of humor. How can i put this.... wanking in front of a fan that has moving parts. Like that's one thing you don't wanna get caught in a fan, esp. if the fan is moving back and forth! Ok, anyway that jokes was a big fat so i'm off to go hang my head in shame.

Like already mentioned in this thread, I think it was only because they needed to find out that the spell was broken. They were too obsessed with their current job to figure out that something was different. While the others were knocked on their head and when they woke up the found out that everything was different. They could feel Jasmines love as long they were under her spell and when the spell was broken, it was gone and when people tell you what happened and you find out that the feeling is gone, you don't need to see it.
Maybe it was a bit of a stretch but I wouldn't put it in the same catagory as the weak Ubervamps in 'Chosen', which is a gigantic gaping plothole and not just a little bit of a stretch.

Never noticed that Jasmine one. Good point, but it's not such a dramatic bother for me *shrugs*
How about this? - Jasmine's spell WAS noticably broken before Angel and Fred saw her. The reaction is a sudden loss of euphoria. Fred was crying about not fixing Jasmine's top, and Angel lost his rag on Fred and tried to kill her. Seeing the maggoty face only confirmed it for them. [/fanwank]
The uber-vamp stuff did bother me in chosen. Trained slayers holding their own is fine for me, I already fanwanked that the first uber was a general or something, but Anya slicing and dicing? A bit suck. They should have just fought bringers above ground. In fact, the whole plan was a bit silly. The sewer access is blocked, so ubervamps can only enter the school.... couldn't they have demolished the school first so that sunlight would do the job first? lol Hell even a nicely placed hole in the ceiling would stop them leaving the seal... I'ma stop now lol

Why would that happen? That would take the fun out of things, though its a good idea and many slayers, Anya and Spike wouldn't have had to die
