I was kinda proud of this issue. It felt like the TV show, I think. Not sure why, I guess because everyone's working together again? More Nina next issue! More Gwen next issue! But most importantly...Gunn and Angel reeeeeunited and it goes reaaaaal bad.... Wait, WHAT?! Gunn's not gonna serve beer and chips while they watch the game or something?! Ooooh! Riiiiiiiiiiight, vampire. Duh. Evil, nasty and all that. ....There better be cookies at least! And by cookies, I mean explosions. And by explosions I mean whatever you've got in store for us.

I was kinda proud of this issue. It felt like the TV show, I think. Not sure why, I guess because everyone's working together again? I think it might have been the pacing, and how the way the revelations came across. Very, very cool--and I noticed the same thing about the book, and put in my review that it really had the pacing and tone of the show. Before, it felt like a big blow-out Angel movie, but this issue really was the first to one-hundred percent capture the tone. Dude, I think I just realized... it might have been the sheer fact that Angel woke up in the Hyperion. That's definitely a tone-setter. Loved Nina in this issue. Gwen was a real bitca, which was sort of unexpected but cool. Her "take the human" home line kinda sounded like she was talking about someone's pet. I hope Angel proves her wrong!

I...loved...this...issue. And I agree, Brian, that it felt like an episode of the TV show. Very nicely paced. I love how a lot of things come to a head in this issue. Everyone knows Angel isn't a vampire anymore, and obviously it bothers him. Connor's reaction to Angel wanting to keep fighting sort of bothered me just becuase Connor always treads on a thin line for me.
I love Illyria and everything about her and when she jumps of the dragon and says something to the extent of "there's always too much talking" I actually laughed out loud. But the best thing she has done thus far is when she said that she wanted to taste the snow outside. Hysterical!! Speaking of...Angel's dream was great. Also, he said something right after that Angel would never say and it really sort of touched me in a way. He said "I really shouldn't eat before bed." Really hits you that he's human. It's just out of character and I completely loved it.
I loved the art a lot in this issue. I felt like the issues before this Nina looked mentally handicapped, the way she stood and the way she would hold her hands. Now she just looks like a person that is acting like a dog....like it better.
The ending promises a lot and I really can't wait for more. Wes and Spike's conversation was awesome by the way too. I loved seeing people outside of L.A. and I've always wondered why they have no idea why L.A. is in hell. I'm jumping all over in this review hahahhaa. Not to mention that the slayers scene was very well done.
But one thing, I don't know if I zoned out when I read a panel or not, but a lot of people are saying we find out "what's up with L.A." I think I missed it. Can someone tell me how it was answered? Thanks.

The "what's up with LA" thing meant that we found out why people outside LA aren't freaking that it's all hellish.

The "what's up with LA" thing meant that we found out why people outside LA aren't freaking that it's all hellish. ooooooooh. Gotcha. That makes more sense. I thought people meant that it was being explained how they were sent to hell and how they are getting out.

Reasons to love this Issue (in no particular order) 1. The dream sequence of Spike as a comic here = Win. I love how it shows Angel's fears of Spike becoming the real hero, stealing Connor away and him just withering into an old, useless man. It's so sad that this fear comes to fruition when Connor tries to sideline him later in the issue. 2. Betta George is more powerful than he realizes. He can freeze people with mind control, which is very cool. 3. The art panel of Angel waking up in his bed at the Hyperion. He just looks so downtrodden and defeated. The likeness is perfect for me. 4. "They hocused when they should have pocused." That's perfect Lorne speak. I love how the snow is a mistake, just an oops without any higher Hellish meaning to it. 5. Angel's taking the lead and hunting down the hidden power. 6. The reveal that Angel is human. Isn't it interesting that no one is jumping for joy? Connor immediately connects the facts that Angel is being reckless with his life because he still feels the need to make amends til it kills him. 7. Random bystanders greeting Angel on the street. He's Mr. Popular. 8. "It's snow and next time use a door." Oh that Illyria. 9. Wesley is jealous of Spike's time spent with Fred-Illyria and grateful Spike will protect her. 10. The slayers in the basement - I love how they punch first, ask questions never. Poor George didn't deserve the beat down though. 11. I laughed out loud at the whole gang riding the Dragon. 12. So LA is still alive and kicking. Or is that an illusion for the outside world? How many people were actually teleported to this LA-like Hell dimension? I've still got more questions on this. 13. Illyria can sense power. Cool trick. 14. Angel sees Gunn again for the first time. Perfect cliffhanger for the next issue.

Well boys and girls Hell has frozen over! This issue was great!!! The Angel human reveal was priceless. Illyria is such a tattle tell! So the people of L.A. were sent to Hell. So I guess that it is safe to say that we can consider "Spike: Asylum" canon now that we have seen the crew from MOSAIC. The Gunn and Angel meet up was a great way to end the issue. I feel that Nina still has feelings for Angel. It's sad to see the slayers being used by Gunn. I hope that they break bad here soon.

It doesn't necessarily mean its canon, It could be an un-official backstory, right? Anwho, I LOVED this issue. 9 & 10 are definitley in my top favorite issues. I liked the art in this one. Nina looked nice. BTW, woohoo @ Nina! I hope she gets back with Angel. I really don't want this to end in.....6 months? Also: Nice how Spike said "Fred-llyria." XD

I really don't want this to end in.....6 months? Something tells me that even with the end of AtF, the Angel stories (canon, now) by IDW and/or Brian aren't even remotely close to ending.

I know it was just a dream, but if Spike and Connor are 2gether when Angel is old, wouldn't that make Connor immortal? Hm...

This issue was outstanding! The dream in the beginning was just brilliant, what more can be said? The scene with Angel and Nina was really interesting. It's obvious she's still smitten with him, and I wonder how that will turn out in the end. Angel is dealing with way too much to even consider a relationship with her, and with what happened between them at the end of Season 5, it's interesting that she still feels that strong connection with him. I think it was obvious that Nina was always more interested in Angel than he was of her (which was very unfair for her), but if she is happy with just being around him and helping out, then I guess that is okay.
Also nice to see Angel Investigations out in full force in this issue. Whether it was Lorne, Groo, and the Spikettes cleaning up the streets, or Angel, Connor, Fred-llyria (loved that in the comic), Gwen, and Nina hunting for the power player, it's clear that Angel is trying to right his wrong at the end of "Not Fade Away" and get L.A. out of hell as quickly as he can.
Illyria was in top form in this issue. Every single scene with her was just hilarious (her jumping off of the dragon was one of my favorite parts of the whole series), and it's also nice to see her so worried about Wesley. She is definitely an integrated part of the team, and I really enjoyed her two sides in this issue (her deep caring for Wesley and her balls to the walls demon ass kicking attitude).
My favorite part of the issue was definitely the scene with Wesley and Spike. Wesley's know he can't do anything, so it was nice to get some reassurance from Spike about how much Spike wants to help Fred. I'm looking forward to seeing how they tackle dealing with Fred-Illyria together.
Another stand out scene (this issue had a bunch) was Angel’s secret being exposed by Illyria. Just a classic moment that was a long time coming. Only thing missing from that scene was Spike, as I can't wait to see his reaction to the news. Connor's reaction was so interesting to read, and it's nice to see this conflict between them. In the series all of their conflict revolved around Connor's upbringing and childhood brainwashing to hate Angel, and then when AtF started it was again nice to see them getting along and Connor finally accepting his father. Now that is out of the way, we can finally see them work on some new, exciting issues, like Angel being human and still in the line of fire.
This scene also set up a potential scene down the line now that Angel and Gunn will be squaring off. While not confirmed until we get issue 11, it's nearly clear that Angel will be getting his ass kicked. Will Connor feel guilt for ditching Angel right before Angel found the "power player"? I'd imagine so. Can't wait to see what happens there.
The Gunn/Betta George stuff was great as well. Gunn's dialogue seemed just spot on in this issue, and getting George to realize he has even more power was exciting (and that Slayer stabbing was just brutal!). Nice to get more confirmation that everyone outside of L.A. thinks all is well, and the character cameos from Asylum were nice.
The art was a big improvement from #9 as well, and I actually enjoyed the art in #9. Can't wait to see what Runge brings next issue.
Like Brian and some other members have said, this issue definitely felt just like an episode of the series, which is one (of the many) reasons why it was the best yet. I know I say that about every issue, but it’s hard to argue with this one. I have been waiting for the Gunn and Angel brawl for a while now (morseo for the dialogue), and can’t wait for issue 11!

It's official: I love After the Fall now more than ever. The dream sequence at the beginning, although short, was hilarious. I wasn't a fan of the interaction between Nina and Angel - never was a Nangel shipper.
Lorne's line "They Hocused when they should have Pocused" brings back memories to the television show when Lorne delivered Lorne-ish lines. It's a nice change for L.A. to have snow instead of flame-colored skies. "I wanted to taste," said Illyria. Angels response "It's snow. And next time, use a door." was funny.
Oh and look, Wesley is jealous of Spike - or so it seems.
Betta George, we love you! I like how they written in more powers for him to use, instead of just being a telepathic fish. I sense a power-player in the making.
Illyria's a tattle-tale. It seemed to shock the other characters that Angel's human - it certainly would've shocked me.
One of the only problems I have with this issue is how they see L.A. as. I don't honestly get how people in Las Vegas would have the weather for Burbank and Hollywood; to me, that just doesn't make sense - although it's shocking that Hell-A has been covered up - I was expecting a giant dome to surround L.A.
And finally, the conclusion: Angel finally realises Gunn is a vampire. Most shocking indeed.

Just got this issue. I sort of feel like an idiot, I completely skipped Angel's dream because I thought it was one of those mini-comics usually at the end. Didn't even realize it until somone posted about it.
I loved this issue, not my favorite of the series, but one of the best. I just loved the pacing of it, felt exactly like the tv show. My favorite part about this issue was Illyria, she's doing her part in helping out the team, and I love it. I love that Spike wants to protect Fred, and will stop anyone who tries to hurt her, even Wesley, and I love that Wesley would rather be killed then be responsible for hurting Fred.
I think one of the greatest strengths for this issue was the relationshop dynamics: Nina still having feelings for Angel, sorta seems like she wants to prove herself to Angel, she can help, there was Gwen sticking up for Connor and going after him and of course the father/son relationship, Connor not wanting to see Angel get hurt. Great stuff!
I can't wait to find out more about what Gunn has planned, what he needs Betta George for and more about the LA situation. Is it a glamor? Also, poor slayers. Amazing cliffhanger too! I also thought the art was a HUGE improvement!

I loved this issue!! I completely agree--this really did feel like an episode of the TV show. And I'll have to go back and count the pages, but did it seem even longer than the standard 22? So many good things to mention, story-wise, I'd be here half the night, and I don't have the time. The lame-ass wanna-be Drac was a highlight (and Angel giving Connor a hard time about thinking the guy was so badass), and Angel's nightmare at the beginning was one of the best things ever. ;D Runge's art was also very good, as promised--if only he'd had the extra time he wanted for the last issue. But after two issues, I'm gonna have to go thumbs-down on Lyon, the colorist. Too muted, and drains some of the excitement out of even the exciting scenes. Okay, now I'm super-psyched about #11!!

brilliant and I don't mean to sound dis-respectul to Franco Urru but Angel After The Fall would have been better if Nick Runge had done it from the start, that way it would have a better flow like Buffy s8 does. Franco is very talented but I just feel that Nick Runge's art is better suited for Angel. Anyway as an ex-after the fall basher who would have thought that I would say that I loved this issue more than TIME OF YOUR LIFE PART 1. Well I did After The Fall part 10 was brilliant. It just had something that was missing from the previous issues 1) one being the cool new art 2) the team is back together 3) hyperion baby!! 4) Angel's secret is out 5) Gunn and Angel cliff hanger at the end although I would have went with Angel's last line to be when he looked at Gunn to be just "CHARLES"?! sort of shocked and worried at the same time It's just I don't think Angel's reaction seemed in character but hey thats just one little thing out of a whole issue and I loved it can't wait for issue 11!!

I loved this issue, maybe one of the best. It's good to see Gwen and Nina getting more "page time". Illyria revealing Angel's human status was great too. I can't wait to see more of Angel's reaction to Gunn being a vamp. I loved Angel's dream of Spike being a "superhero" and Angel being an old man. The fact that people outside of LA think everything is normal. And as many members have said it seemed like a real episode.

Great issue. The writing was first rate. I can't express how much I prefer this artist to the previous one. I love his style and how he can acheive amazing likeness to the actors while still telling the story. I hope he stays on Angel: After the Fall until the end now.
