Ok we now know that the new ongoing Angel writer for #28 onwards is going to be announced in around 6 weeks.
Anyone have any guesses or wishes?
Personally I would love John Byrne to be involved after the amazing Blood and Trenches. Of course a writer from the show would be amazing.

I think it is going to be someone we are familiar with. At Free Comic Book Day Ryall told me "You'll be Happy". He could have just been saying that, but it gives me the impression that it is someone we know. It could be a show writer, or it could be someone in the IDW family like Scott Tipton or Peter David. I'd be interested to see Ben Templesmith or Ashley Wood take a crack at Angel, but not necessarily for the long haul since their art styles are unique.

Peter David is still doing Fallen Angel, isn't he?
I wonder if we could get him anyway, just for a few issues.

Yes, true, but depending on what else they have going on comic book writers can write more than one book. BKV did Y: The Last Man, Ex-Machina, and Runaways as well as several mini-series all at the same time.

I would LOVE Peter David. Part of me wonders if it's full-on Joss. Or they could be sneaky and just be announcing Brian Lynch again.

I doubt it would be Joss. He's mostly busy with Buffy and Dollhouse. Me, I don't have any speculations, but I hope it's someone better than Kelley Armstrong and really knows the Angelverse or well enough to write a pretty good arc, like After the Fall

Ryall posted on his Twitter: New ongoing Angel writer, hope you're prepared for what will follow the announcement at Comic-Con. 9:55 AM Jun 11th from web Ha ha:) Perhaps the new writer is a Twitterer and Ryall's message was directed at them. Of course, he didn't use the @user so not to give it away. So maybe we should examine Ryall's Twitter followers for a list of suspects!

I would love for Peter David to join the book. I haven't read Fallen Angel, but the writing in his new arc with Illyria was great (and just a preview too), and his Illyria: Spotlight is probably my favorite pre-After the Fall IDW comic, excluding Brian's Spike series. A writer from the show would also be exciting. Tim Minear anyone? ;D

I just read the first "Fallen Angel" arc, and Peter David is amazing. I thought pretty highly of the dude after reading "Spike vs. Dracula," but "Fallen Angel" is just next level stuff. If he can apply that talent for humor and emotion and darkness to Angel, and oh I think he can, he'd be the ideal right after Brian Lynch. Oh I'm a-wishin' it was July so we could get to this announcement...
