We know that Kennedy spent some time dead, in a mystical sense (whatever that means), and that she did so for Willow. We don't know why, and we don't know if Kennedy knows why.
The idea struck me today... what if Kennedy had to "die" as a sort of human sacrifice. That sacrifice was the necessary price for Willow to get the patronage of Saga Vasuki (she's a demon, after all). And the worst part of it is... Willow never told Kennedy that.
Can you imagine the fireworks if Kennedy finds out that not only is Willow (apparently) cheating on her with a snaky demon goddess... but that it was her own death -- which she undertook in absolute trust of Willow -- that allowed Will access to said snaky goddess.

i've always wodnered. i have no clue, or theories on why she died, but i am very excited for when she finds out about Saga Vasuki (because i'm sure she will). I'm a very solid Kennedy-hater and Twillow-shipper, so i'm pretty pumped for that, and hopefully they break up.
Cool theory, Andrew, even if it doesn't put Will in a very nice light.

Aw, I'd feel even more awful for Kennedy if that was the case. I was hoping we would find out more about her death during Swell. Now I'm just hoping it wasn't one of those little in-jokes where we never find out what really happened. I'm really hoping it'll be brought up again and that it has something to do with Saga Vasuki. That'd be some great drama.

You know, I presented a theory at Buffy-Boards.com, but they mostly laughed at me. But let me dig it up real quick...
"Is Saga Vasuki a part of Kennedy? I'm not saying they're the same entity, but maybe they share the same body at different times? I thought that maybe it could be a consequence of Kennedy's mystical death pre-Season 8. I mean, we don't really know what happened. Apparently Willow's been seeing Vasuki since then, so maybe it's related. But really, I'm tired as hell and I'm just really going out there."

I hope my theory is wrong, and I hope Willow isn't rationalizing that kind of deviousness in her quest for power. But, in Anywhere But Here the vision of her with SV was shown as being an equal level of wrongdoing with Buffy's bank-robbing activities. Is that just because Will is cheating on her girlfriend, or because SV is evil, or is there something else?

i think Willow was only meant to be with her true love. she just can't commit to people like Oz and Kennedy, because they're not the perfect fit. in my opinion.

I really hope that this isn't true, but at this point it just may be. Willow's character seems to be swirling down to a "beeping bitch" this season. Maybe it all has something to do with Twilight...

I hope so. I hope she's possessed or something, it would be better than having her become a bitch for no reason. On the other hand, anything that hurts Kenedy gets a cheer from me.
