Apparently Anthony Head will be appearing in a new NBC series, Merlin, that begins airing tonight. He is playing King Uther, a main character. I don't know if this a only a mini-series or if it is meant to be a regular show, but I thought I'd share. Here's the site: www.nbc.com/merlin/Here's a photo from the Channel guide in the Washington Post: Click Me

Merlin aired over here on BBC last autumn. It's a pretty good show, I think you have to watch it and suspend belief a little bit. The earlier episodes in the series are a little poor - a little too standalone - but as it progresses it gets a lot better. By the end of the season I was sad to see it go, but it is returning for a second run this autumn

I'm slow...didn't realize the show had already aired in the UK. I guess it did well enough that they'd decided to air here in the US.

I think NBC bought it unseen... but I think it did do pretty well over here, otherwise they wouldn't have renewed it for a second series.

I'll probably check it out. I haven't heard much about it except that it is pretty boring early on. For those that have seen it, would you recommend it?

I would recommend it. For me, the show was more about the relationships between the characters than the monster-of-the-week plots. I wouldn't say it's boring in the first few episodes, just that they're not as good as the episodes later on in the series. Give it a go

watched it tonight, my first reaction to Tony's appearance as Uther was "OMG IT'S GILES!!!" and I proceeded to dance and point at his image on the screen. It was a pretty good series premiere, but the second episode was really stupid, I like the actor who plays Merlin and I hope the rest of the series picks up a little though.

Yes its pretty good. Its a UK show by BBC. I watched most of it and sort of lost track near the end. Anthony Head is great at acting in it although I didn't like his character much at all.

How many episodes is this, if it's a mini-series? I missed the first episode last night, so I want to try and watch it soon, so I can get my Giles fix and go all crazy when he gets screen time.

Watching it now on Hulu. ASH is pretty good, the effects are a little shaky so far.
