I got into this show because I picked up a fairly large novel my boyfriend had long been a fan of. I'd hear of "Legend of the Seeker" as a TV show before, never heard much about it, just heard the name. However, when I started reading Wizard's First Rule, I almost immediately made the connection.
Well, now I'm half way through the book, and almost finished with the first season (just got renewed with ABC). It's not the best-produced show, and the writing occasionally is yawn-worthy, but it's really cool to see these characters on screen.
Anyone else familiar with or a fan of this show?

I just finished the books, absolutely LOVED them.... and then I tried to watch the show. Ugh, I couldn't get into it at all because it strayed so far from the story. I hate the way they depict Zedd, and the actor they picked to play Richard bugs me. I realize you would almost have to do that (stray from the story & change some things) with a t.v. show for it to make sense to people who haven't read the books, but I think they strayed too far off of the path. Plus I had heard Sam Raimi was doing it, then it somehow turned into a Disney production? That part still confuses the crap outta me. I think it would have been awesome if Raimi could have done it, but then I'm a fan of his anyway. To each their own I guess. Keep reading the books, they just get better and better. And if you want someone to discuss them with, lemme know.
I think they should be required reading for everyone, lol.

I LOVE the show, and always try to read before watching anything based on a book or series... but I missed out on this one and feel fail worth for that... Regardless Im going to get my hands on all the books. But in the meantime I have an extreme enjoyment for this tv series going on. Richard and Kaylen are LOVE!!

My boyfriend owns the books, and he tried getting me to read them, but I don't think I ever got much farther than the first mention of a Confessor, I think. And this was... hmm... must be about 3 years ago. Oh well... I knew about the show, but have yet to watch it. I did Wiki it a while back.

I feel the same way about Twilight books/movies... trying to put words on screen is a very difficult task. I believe Raimi was an Executive Producer for the show (imdb.com says for 16 episodes). The whole Disney production probably came about with ABC studios (they're embedded companies) which actually produced the first season. It's going to SciFi now me thinks. I may have to take you up on that offer to discuss the books with you  I LOVE the show, and always try to read before watching anything based on a book or series... but I missed out on this one and feel fail worth for that... Regardless Im going to get my hands on all the books. But in the meantime I have an extreme enjoyment for this tv series going on. Richard and Kaylen are LOVE!! They are Love! The two actors do have good chemistry on screen (not amazing though), but better than what was depicted in the first half of the first book lol, that's all I've read so far! They use the Confessor thing a little more offensively in the show than the books, Kahlen was very timid to use it in the books. But you should check out the show. It starts off a little slow (like Dollhouse) but picks up a stride toward the end. Maybe if you like it you will give the books another try.
