So I have been reading a lot of blogs that have been putting the new Transformers movie in a seriously harsh light. I have been trying to not be annoyed at these blogs but I read one a few days ago that made it so clear the guy was just looking for loopholes and things to complain about. movies.yahoo.com/feature/smg-transformers-10-questions.html This is a blog that yahoo put on it's front page! There are only 1 major point I agree with out of the numerous complaints the blogger listed. That point is... 1. In "Transformers," there was this giant battle in the middle of downtown Los Angeles -- excuse me, Mission City -- that was witnessed by thousands of people at the very least. But somehow the government was able to cover up the whole thing, and now the existence of alien robots is just an internet rumor? How did they do it? Pay off everyone who was there and quickly fix millions of dollars in damage? Also, didn't Keller (Jon Voight) go on TV and tell everyone we were being attacked by "a technological civilization far superior to our own"? How did they spin that? Pretty much every other point that is outlined can be explained or is so knit-picky that it doesn't matter. Such as... ~The female Decepticon that can become human looking is actually a Transformer known as a "Pretender". They were in Transformers G1. I don't see why her existence should have to have all this exposition. That type of transformers existed just like the numerous other types we have seen. ~ After awakening Jetfire, Sam and Mikaela step outside into an"aircraft" boneyard. There have been complaints that the scene could not have been at the Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. This is true however there is an Air and Space Annex that has a boneyard, just like the one shown, in a more rural area of Virginia. ~ Robot Heaven... He did not go into heaven. His essence traveled into the Matrix of Leadership were the essence of the original Prime's was held. Yes it was kind of cheesy but not inaccurate. So that is all I have time for right now but feel free to disagree or agree or debate etc.

Holy crap! That is extremely nitpicky. Honestly, I thought the movie was terrible, but nothing on that list (except maybe the first one, like you mentioned... and maybe the second one a little, and the fifth ;D) even registers on my long list of things wrong with it. Things like that don't make a bad movie, they don't even matter. Can't believe that was on the front page.

I laughed out loud when I saw Yahoo's opening page with Megan Fox blasting Michael Bay... putting too much emphasis on special effects and not acting.... COMING FROM MEGAN FOX. Perhaps she's trying to stave criticism of her performance and stick it to the director??

Wow, a lot of complaints there. I'll try and answer them as best as I can 1: Don't know. Don't work for the government 2: Mikaela probably forgot about the Allspark and even then, it might not have the power to bring Optimus back to life 3: It's possible that the Doctor showed up on the sonar 4: I thought it was kinda funny the Doctor had glasses (haha funny) 5: She's probably made of light, but sturdy metal. She was crushed real easy under the car 6: I don't know about the whole 'Transformers having kids' thing, but it could be possible. Jetfire mentioned his father. Also, Jetfire may be creaky, but he's got some power in him and it was enough for Optimus, plus maybe the other Primes couldn't beat the Fallen and he could be considered as the last true Prime 7: Can't answer 8: Can't answer 9: I'm gonna agree with meliafairy 10: It's a bunch of little questions that I'll try to answer 10-1: Dunno 10-2: He had an extra sock? 10-3: Probably biding his time 10-4: It's a Decepticon, not an actual satellite. He might be able to pick up stuff around the world, hence the name Soundwave 10-5: Cuz it was funny and who wouldn't want to? 10-6: Again, funny and yet horrifying 10-7: Possible they're different Decepticons with the same form. Demolisher and Scavenger had the same form, so why not others? 10-8: I'm not sure if the government even sent the military out. Lennox and Epps pretty much went ahead and did their own thing 10-9: Yeah, like how? 10-10: Cuz maybe it can change shape? 10-11: Cold Power So there we go. I attempted and this is what I could come up with. It could be considered a lot of fanwacking, but anyhow

- By far the most legitimate point in my opinion. We, as forgiving viewers, could say that all people saw were a bunch of military guys and machines fighting in the city. They “could” have been manned machines. They didn’t have big bumper stickers that said “I a Member of an Alien Race. Ask me how.” Plus, we all believed in the moon landing because the government said it was real.2. There are two pieces of the Allspark cube left: the military has one under lock and key, and Sam discovers another. The Decepticons steal one and bring Megatron back to life. But when Sam (Shia LaBeouf) wants to bring back Optimus, he has to find the Matrix of Leadership on the other side of the globe. Why not use the other piece? Mikaela (Megan Fox) has it in her backpack the whole time. It brought his kitchen appliances to life, why can't it do the same for Optimus? - That piece that is supposedly in Mikela’s backpack the whole time was used on Jetfire, and no longer available after that point.3. Speaking of Megatron's rebirth, when the Decepticons venture deep into the ocean to revive him, the Navy crew tracking them reads five contacts. When they get down there, they tear apart one of the robots for parts to rebuild Megatron. Then as they rise to the surface, the same Navy guys say they spot six contacts. The little "Doctor" robot popped out down there, but he's about a third of the size of a person. Would he have shown up on sonar? - The crappy sonar device on my grandfather’s boat can pick up fish so small that they aren’t even worth trying to catch. Given that, I think military level sonar placed on a vessel that is sitting in place for the purpose detecting underwater movement can handle finding the doctor transformer.4. That reminds me: even if I were to forgive the Doctor's German accent -- and director Michael Bay is asking me to forgive a lot of ridiculous accents -- why would a robot need glasses? He has little lenses that flip in front of his mechanical eyes. Couldn't he just get his eyes adjusted? You'd think with all the laser guns, someone could perform a Lasik procedure. - As far as the accents, the doctor transformer having and German accent is just as ridiculous as Optimus having an American accent. Why stop there? How about we go on about how ridiculous it is that an alien race speaks English. As far as the glasses, the transformers are to have characterization, and the glasses are a part of that for that one. Why does Bumblebee have little wings sticking out of his back when they could get in the way? Why does Optimus have a retractable sword instead of just having a sword arm?5. Apparently, Transformers can look like people now. How? And how is it that even though the robo-girl (Isabel Lucas) is made of metal, she can still straddle Sam without crushing him. And if Bumblebee knows something's wrong with her, why does he spit antifreeze at her instead of telling Sam? Yes, his voicebox is broken, but wasn't it fixed at the end of the last movie?
- Meliafairy pretty much covered this one. This link has more information on the Pretenders, as well as a section explaining the one in the movie: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretenders_(Transformers). About Bumblebee’s voice box, they say it’s still broken at the beginning. Not knowing these things is what happens when you don’t actually watch the movie.6. The Fallen is the last of the Primes, since they all sacrificed themselves to stop him from destroying the sun. But then he says that Optimus is a descendant of the Primes. First, Transformers have kids? And second, how could he descend from them if they were all dead? And if the Fallen could only be destroyed by a Prime, why didn't the originals just gang up on him back in the day? And what makes Optimus so special, anyway? Megatron beat him earlier, but all it takes is a few spare parts from creaky old Jetfire for him to take out the Fallen? - First off, Transformers can have kids. They aren’t just some robots that people make, program, and send out. They are a procreating, evolving, alien species that have a biological structure of metal. Second, I know plenty of people that procreated before death. That is kinda how it is usually done. Why didn’t they gang up on him? I wouldn’t be too keen on fighting the guy one guy that can destroy me. Megatron did beat him up earlier with help. They pretty much had to corner and gang-bang him. And now on to Jetfire and his parts. He may have been old, but he gave Optimus and array of ranged weapons and the ability to freaking fly. Also, the name when they are mixed is JetOptimus, which is from the Transformers: Armada animated series and is pretty badass from all accounts.7. Sam, Mikaela, and Simmons (John Turturro) go to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. to find Jetfire. Then they walk out the back onto a wide open field with old planes and mountains in the distance. When did the National Mall start to look so much like to Tucson, AZ (where they really filmed that scene)? - Meliafairy also covered this one. They used the Air and Space annex: The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.8. The geography is just as bad when they go to Egypt. The stone city of Petra in Jordan is over 250 miles away, over mountainous terrain, with few paved roads and the Israeli border between them, so how can they drive from one to the other in a couple of hours. And the Pyramids are said to be shooting distance from the Mediterranean, but they are actually well over 80 miles inland. Even if the Navy ship had a secret rail gun, and even if the captain would take an order to fire from a former agent of a government branch that no longer exists (over a walkie-talkie that inexplicably starts working again), how could it hit a moving target from that distance? - I think a rail gun could handle the distance.
Taken from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rail_gun : “On January 31, 2008 the US Navy tested a railgun; it fired a shell at 2520 m/s with an energy of 10.64 MJ.[15] Its expected performance is over 5.8 km/s muzzle velocity, accurate enough to hit a 5 meter target from 200 nautical miles (370 km) away while shooting at 10 shots per minute. It is expected to be ready in 2020 to 2025.”
As far as the captain taking the command to fire from the former agent, we as forgiving viewer that don’t want our cool fight scenes interrupted with boring fact checking by the characters can assume the following happened: Captain attempts the verify the identity of the man identifying himself as a Sector 7 agent. Sector 7 no longer exists, so he is forwarded to the agency that took over Sector 7’s jurisdiction. They then give the go to help out
9. Sam briefly dies and goes to Robot Heaven. Robot Heaven?!?! - As Meliafairy said: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matrix_of_Leadership 10. Where does Sam's bandage come from? What about his extra sock? Why does Sam's roommate not contribute anything at all? What was the Fallen doing for those thousands of years Megatron was frozen in ice? How does one satellite receive transmissions from everywhere on the planet? Why does Wheelie hump Mikaela's leg? Why do we have to see John Turturro's thong? Why are robots who join together to become Devastator also seen fighting the Army at the same time? Why does the government want only our military fighting Decepticons when our weapons seem unable to make so much as a dent on any of them? Why did the ancient Egyptians build a pyramid around the sun-destroying machines instead of just breaking it? Why is the Matrix of Leadership bigger in the Fallen's hand than in Sam's? And how do Mikaela's pants stay so clean? - Not even gonna bother answering these. This movie was fiction. Next time you head into a movie about and alien, robot race, don’t expect anything else.

Meliafairy and myself talked about it for about and hour, then I just looked up and verified everything.
