Title: Prodigal Princess Challenge: #2 Villain's POV Fandom: Buffy/Angel Pairing/Characters: Drusilla Summary: Drusilla’ POV after Redefinition (AtS Season 2) but prior to returning to Sunnydale in Crush (BtVS Season 5) Rating: PG-13 - not suitable for under 13 Warnings: Violence, Blood and Sexual innuendo Disclaimer: Joss is Boss. I am just playing in his ‘Verse. Word Count: 100 Author's Note: Thank you for taking the time to read my work. All commentary is welcomed. I enjoy constructive criticism. “The pain…” the bleeding man grunted. Her arm flashed as pale as a lightning strike in the dimly lit room. Sharp knuckles cracked against the man’s skull. This man knew nothing of pain, but she did. She knew such pain that surged like streams of lava flowing across her burns. She cried out in anguish at the Angel-Beast, her betrayer, but mostly she cried for her love. He would lick her wounds clean. A shudder ran along her length just thinking of the pleasure-pain his touch would cause. She smiled as she rose and said, “Princess is coming, my Spike.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I really enjoyed the imagery presented in this piece. I, however, feel that you haven't quite managed to embody the insane side of Dru.

I think the dialogue is Drusilla-like "Princess is coming" but there isn't many crazy crazy thoughts like I would imagine in her head! I like the premise of the piece though, and it's a great idea to do something between those episodes! It IS well written

This drabble is suggestive and wicked. Love it.
But isn't Benediction from season 3? I assume you mean Redefinition.
I'm fine with the no-crazyness, Dru's feeling and mood could be told without it. After all, the drabble isn't in told in first person, so there could be a lot of untold crazyness.

I also agree that the lessened crazy ranting was okay with me. At that point in the story line, she was not quite as crazy except when in mid vision. I think her insanity was hitting a lot harder back when she was sick.

I love the imagery here of Dru's pale arms flashing like lightening, the way her vision flashes like lightening. And the nonchalant murder going on in the background as she's so fixated on her own pain. It's so twisted and just...Dru. No one else's pain matters but her own. That in itself is a form of madness.
I do think that it's not necessary to paint Dru's as full-fledged insane. She often had great moments of clarity and insight. Most of the time her insanity was full-on when she was either ill, in severe emotional distress or having a vision. As neither of these things is happening here, I think you were right on with the presentation. Because while Drusilla is mad, she's also cunning as hell and can take care of herself.
