Title: Drusilla – Alone Challenge: #2 Villain's POV Fandom: Buffy/Angel Characters: Drusilla. Summary: Drusilla is alone. Spoiler: Season 8, issue 4. Rating: G Warnings: Character death. Disclaimer: You caught me, I'm not Joss Whedon, or FOX, or anyone who owns anything cool. I don't even own the computer I wrote this drabble on. Word count: A 100 words(not including the title). Author's note: Let's say it takes place before issue 26 of Season 8. And in case you haven't read Season 8 of Buffy, I should explain that Amy(Willow's ex witch-buddy) and Warren(mr. flayed-alive-by-Dark-Willow-and-now-skinless) are back and fighting against Buffy. * * * Tick tock, tick tock, the clock has stopped. Down falls the leaves on the dead slayer's grave. My knight bleeds from his eyes. His star has gone out. He lays his shiny, shiny head, on the muddy, muddy grave. Still won't play with me, even after I snapped the wicked witch's head and ate her skinless boyfriend. ”Still won't bring her back”, he says, my Spike. I have to find miss Edith. She's the only one who will speak with me. I hope I didn't leave her in the valley of the sun. She's the only family I have left. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I like the imagery you've used, I think it sounds very Drusilla-like! and poetic. Beautiful.

I have to admit, I was really thrown by the use of quotation marks for speech from Spike which I'm assuming was meant to be Drusilla remembering his voice in her head. Obviously he's not there because Drusilla's alone. It was a confusing use of format. Thoughts are normally best conveyed in italics or single quotation marks.
If it had been Season 2, I think the characterization would have been fantastic. But Dru's insanity was more pronounced during her illness and faded as she grew in strength. She's more able to hold a seemingly "normal" conversation. Often times, she talks weird when she's having a vision, but it's not a constant stream of insanity imho.

I was confused when reading this, and not in the good Drusilla confused way.
If I'm not mistaken, Drusilla is killing Amy and Warren in order to get Spike back (which I don't know if actually happened, since I'm only on issue 10). I was pretty sure the Spike and Dru were both pretty settled on wanting nothing to do with one another after Spike tied her up to stake her.

Thanks guys, for taking the time to comment.
Secret Scoobie – thanks, I was going for that!
meliafairy – That's too bad you read it that way. I hadn't actually decided if she was remembering him saying it or is he said it right then and there, but since I wrote ”bleeds” and ”he lays”, not ”bleed” and ”he laid”(not sure if that's the right form), that line should be read as if he's saying it now, which means that single quotations marks and italics aren't needed. You see, Drusilla was alone in the emotional sense, not the physical. She had no family left, so even when she stood there with Spike, she had no one, she was alone. Maybe if I wrote ”Drusilla feels lonely” in the summary, it would be more clear.
About her sounding too insane here, I really don't think so. Of course, it was a while since I watched Season 2 of Angel, but in the second half of season 2 of Buffy she seems to be as crazy as in this drabble.
fayth – Thanks!
zorthrip – I won't spoil you too much, but since I only wrote issue 4 of Season 8 in the spoilers, you're suppose to assume Buffy's as alive and well as in the end of issue 4.
About Drusilla and Spike wanting nothing to do with each other;
I don't know what Spike feels about Drusilla, but in this drabble he's busy grieving, so not much Drusilla-love or hate going on there, and Drusilla well... Her entire family was killed by a man she today gladly calls ”Daddy”(even tough in What's my line in season 2 of Buffy, we can see that Drusilla might still be sad/angry about that). She's a insane, lonely vampire. Not that big of a stretch (for me) that she would crave the company of a family member enough to overlook a little staking.
But I see how you got confused.
