Why on Earth would anybody ever trust Harmony?? She has no soul. She has no sense of right and wrong. At all.
Of course she craves attention, but that doesn't make her any more trustworthy.

All vampires have a sense of right and wrong. The mass majority just don't care. But I really like to think that Harmony isn't a typical vampire, as she really is the only one that is craving to become human again even without a soul.
And it wasn't about attention. It was about trying to belong somewhere. She has no real friends, she sucks at being a vampire, so she found a job, but she's isolated there as well. So she's trying hard to place herself into Angel's gang, and Angel simply dismisses her all the time. I truly think that if he actually tried to include her, hell, validate her existence, she wouldn't have betrayed them so easily.
To say she has no sense of right or wrong is ignoring her actions in season five. If she really had no sense, I highly doubt she would have cared that Fred died, and moreso would not have even attempted at comforting those closest to her that were incredibly hurt by her death (ala Wesley and Gunn).
Spike was still soul-less when he refused to tell Glory who the key was. Yes, he did it cause he was in love with Buffy, but it shows that vampires are capable of being good people.

I think that Cordelia was right when she called Harmory a sheep back in "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered.
Harmory seems to follow the strongest leader. She followed Angel because she probably thought that he would kill her at any moment. We see in "Harm's Way" that she is scared of him.
But when it came time for Angel to fight the Black Thorn she betrayed him cause she saw the Black Thorn as the strongest at that point.

I have to agree. I think Harmony went up and behond to show Angel and the gang that she wanted to do good. She proved to them many times that she was capable of being a good vampire. Sometimes I think Angel took her for granted and didn't really give her a chance. I mean yes, She did betray them once before, But Angel has given other people second chances. Why not Harmony? Because she was a soulless vampire. Angel should've staked back in season 2.

I think Harmony did want to do good, but the problem with being a soulless vampire is that they tend to do something wrong no matter how much good they try to do. The only real reason Spike behaved himself in season 4 up until he got a soul is because he had the chip in his head.
Harmony really wasn't that evil of a vampire though, comparing her with Drusilla or Darla. She was a bit mellow compared to them. Angel knew that Harmony would betray them again sometime, it was just a matter of when, I suppose it was easier having her around to keep an eye on her, and he wanted to know when that betrayal would happen again. Perhaps it would have been easier to just stake her and be done with it. But I am a bit glad he didn't, I do somewhat like Harmony.

If I may point out, Harmony double crossed people quite a bit when she was alive... so why should she be any different when she is a vampire.

Well I guess it depends on whether or not you think Harmony has changed as a "person" or if she's still as shallow as she was in high school. I think she went through a lot of development by the time season 5 hit and throughout season 5 that makes it hard to judge her by her past actions.
