Well, I'm an '88 baby myself. The one thing I like about the 80's was probably Billy Idol. Gotta love Idol. Also, Bon Jovi. Other than that, not much else really

I was an '87 baby, so mostly incoherent throughout the rest of that decade. I do like the 80's though. Some great music in that decade, and some great shows started too. Plenty of awesome movies too.

I'm an '86 baby, but agree with Wyndam in not really having too much to remember about it (although one of my earlier memories is of watching Return of the Jedi in 1989). I guess when I think of really 80's music, I think of Duran Duran, A-HA, Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, KraftWerk etc. All cheesy, all awesome! Films: think the works of the recently departed John Hughes, creating what I believe Buffy refers to as the "Ringwald oeuvre" like "Sixteen Candles", "The Breakfast Club" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". Then you've got the special effects and sci-fi/fantasy resurgence - 2/3 of the original Star Wars trilogy are 80's films, as is Tron, Krull, Labyrinth, Legend, The Princess Bride, Back to the Future, Aliens, The Terminator, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Thing, Blade Runner, Supergirl, Ghostbusters, Dune, The Fly, The Lost Boys, Robocop, Predator, BeetleJuice, Batman. In terms of action films, the 80's gave us the Rambo movies, Beverley Hills Cop, Carpenter flicks like Assault on Precinct 13 and Big Trouble in Little China. Other special mentions: The Blues Brothers, The Evil Dead, The Goonies, Platoon, Full Metal Jacket. The 80's - a great decade for film!

It's so sad about John Hughes. There's this great blog post from a woman who was his pen pal in the 80s when she was a teenager. He seemed like a really decent person.
