Spike's getting his own ongoing series, so maybe it's about time that Illyria does too.
I mean, pretty much most of the Angel title features Illyria significantly. She's also a huge cover hog (in a good way).
Right now, this is what's going on in the Angelverse
Angel ongoing: Drusilla Only Human: Gunn and Illyria Fallen Angel Reborn: Liandra and Illyria
and soon.....: A Whole in the World where Illyria is the focus
So... me likey this idea. Thoughts?

I think we need to unify the ANGEL on-going's vision before we talk about more splits. Although an Illyria book would no doubt force me to die a happy man at last.

An Illyria spin-off? Illyria's awesome, but no. We already have Spike and Gunn going off on their spin-offs (though Gunn will return to Angel), so I agree with Hellbound, that we need to unify the ANGEL vision before we see more spin-offs

No, she should stay part of the Angel line, I hope that there are no more spin-off's (I see no point anyway with out Joss, but that is just me.)

I dont mind the odd spin-off when it serves a story purpose (like Only Human), but no I think it is best if the main cast are back together.

Illyria doesnt seem like a strong enough character to carry a book on her own. I mean if only human became recurring I could except that because illyria has gunn to compliment her and vice versa or even if illyria joined back up with spike but she's best used in duos and groups. Even tho she's an all mighty whatsawhoosit she seems like ever since she's lost her powers she needs to be slightly lead by the hand.

I have to agree that Illyria isn't exactly the best character to branch off into a solo story. Illyria works so well because of her interactions with the other characters. She is in essence balanced & grounded by them. Without Wesley or Spike or Gunn, she becomes this super-powered babe who walks around aimlessly destroying things. Fun on paper, but boring after one or two issue.
That aside, the fact that Angel & his crew have been dragged so far apart is a sign that the spin-off stories, after Spike's series, should be put on hold. I don't think it will happen, but I'd like to see all the characters left standing at the end of After the Fall get back together, or at least be featured in the same series.

I agree with dragonweaver. I think they should eventually reintroduce everyone back into the same book, and do kind of whats been described as willinghams appraoch. Like Angel, connor, and Eddie will all be in the same book but have seperate things going on. I think it gives more of a tv feel like when in season 4 the crew and wesley are in the same show but are working their own things.

I agree with dragonweaver about this. Right now, it should just be the Angel: On-going series and Spike: On-going series. More spin-offs just splits up the team further and stretches the storyline all over the place when there would be no need for it. Illyria should stay either with Angel's team or go with Spike or both, but not off on her own

Nah, Illyria is best as a supporting character. A miniseries here or there and I'm thrilled. But she needs to be either a main character in ANGEL or SPIKE.

What about a fantasy historic tale about Illyria, her kingdom, the going down and planning her's resurrection

That could be cool. We saw a glimpse of that in Fallen Angel:Reborn #1 though

I'm against the majority of the spin-offs from the Angel series. I say just keep all the characters unified. If they want a Spike story, make a Spike arc... not his own series. If they want a Gunn/Illyria story, make a arc for it.. not their own mini series that comes out along with the regular series. I gave up trying to follow Angel after #17.

No, i don't think Illyria should get her own series. Spike getting his own series now was long overdue, he should have gotten his own show when they were still on the air, not get stuck behind Angel. Spike's a character that's equal to Buffy or Angel and has proven to being able to carry a story. As a character he has deep, violent history and has grown a lot in the span of 2-4years. There's also still so much untapped potential for the character. And unlike Angel, we know Spike will remain a vampire making it so that there's no time-limit on how many or how far stories can be told about him.
Gunn isn't getting his own series nor do i believe he could carry it longterm. Same goes for Illyria, not as popular as the leads. And the biggest difference is that Gunn,Illyria are strictly Angel characters, Spike is not. So he shouldn't be limited by being glued to Angel's side, it also does not make sense for the character.

Yeah, I think she should get her own spin off soon. Its not like she'll get her own tv series. I mean there are so many marvel characters that have there own comic book series and i'm not talking about the big comic book characters like iron man, spiderman, thor, hulk, etc.

I think Illyria is just fine where she is. She is a huge part in most of the comics ATM, and even the main character in Only Human. I hope she will also be in the Spike spin off.

I've seen enough fan-made Illyria show opening credits on YouTube to know that I'd be all for a live action Illyria show, although Illyria as a regular on a live action Spike show was always my first choice for anything that might have happened on television. Not sure about Illyria as a comic book ongoing series though. For some reason it doesn't grab me the way the upcoming Spike series does. I do think she would fit better as a supporting character in Spike's book though. She and Spike have a lot more chemistry than she ever did with Angel. I'm avoiding spoilers for the Spike series for the most part but does anyone know if Brian is planning on using Illyria at all? And by anyone I am including Mr Lynch himself if he happens to read this thread...

Brian has said in the past that the two series ( Angel and Spike) will crossover with each other, so I think we will definitely see some Illyria in Spike.
