I'd love Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series to become a film. The books are so complex, though, that it might work better as a miniseries. Seems like something the BBC would be good at adapting. Outlander Series @ Wikipedia

I would enjoy it if the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich were made into a movie/tv show. They're not literary masterpieces or anything, but they're very entertaining. I think they would do well.

In The Forests Of The Night by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes.
Here's a summary from Amazon .com Three-hundred-year-old Risika looks darn good for her age. Thanks to her "blood mother," a vampire named Ather who turned Risika (formally Rachel) into one of the undead back in 1684, she will always look as fresh as a 17-year-old. Now Risika is a world weary night stalker who sleeps in Concord, Massachusetts, by day and prowls New York City by night, in search of fresh blood to slake her inhuman thirst. One of the benefits of living such a long life has been discovering that most of the popular myths about vampires are not true: "Holy water and crosses do not bother me... and silver does not burn me. If someone hammered a stake through my heart, I suppose I would die, but I do not play with humans, stakes or mallets." In fact, there is little in the mortal world that surprises Risika anymore, until she returns from a hunt one night to find a black rose on her pillow--the same flower she was given on the eve of her mortal death. Knowing that the rose is a taunt from Aubrey, a vampire she believes murdered her human brother, Risika decides to confront her nemesis. In a bloody battle with Aubrey, Risika finally unearths her brother's true fate.

I'm pretty sure all the books I'd want to become movies either already are, or I don't want them to.

I'd love to see the Gormenghast trilogy by Mervyn Peake get made into films. The BBC did an atrocious adaptation about 8-10 years ago. They just got the image and feel of it all wrong. The books are about a gargantuan, crumbling dynasty which trudges on meaninglessly through time perpetuating rituals that serve no purpose. The books start with the birth of Titus, 77th Earl of Groan and follow various treacherous rumblings in the castle throughout his childhood. I recommend the books to anyone at all - they're marvellously poetic. A good imagination and decent budget could really see them translated well to the big screen.

Gumgnome, the Gormenghast trilogy sounds pretty good. I've seen Titus Groan about a thousand times around my house, and it never even occurred to me to read it, or see what its about. I think I might do that soon now.

Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Summary: In a future North America, where the rulers of Panem maintain control through an annual televised survival competition pitting young people from each of the twelve districts against one another, sixteen-year-old Katniss's skills are put to the test when she voluntarily takes her younger sister's place.
I remember the entire time that I was reading it I kept thinking that it would make an awesome movie, since it's such an action driven book.

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King. That would make an awesome movie. Been saying that for years, I wish somebody would make it already.
