I maybe the only one out there i do not want a season 9 of buffy. i think that they have dragged her story on too long and now they are just out to make money it is the same with the angel series they should have ended that with #17 END IT NO SEASON 9 EVER the show has lost touch with what is was really about and it getting boreing. In the beggining it was about the slayer and her fight against evil armed with friends now it is just getting silly Secret Headquarters Being outlawed too much magic i hope they dont do a season 9 because then they will have just killed the entire series PLEASE JOSS PLEASE END Buffy After Season 8

Season 8 is my favorite comic right now, and my favorite of the last several years. I've enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed most seasons of the TV show, and I eagerly await what's in store for season 9.

If you don't like the comic, just stop buying. I wouldn't wish others to have to give up a comic they enjoy (Buffy Season 8 is one of my favorite series), just because you don't like it.
Season 8 isn't perfect, but #28 (and Retreat) has really restored my faith in this series, and even at it's low points (Predator and Prey), I am still ecstatic to see Buffy continuing on. I can't wait to see where the rest of Season 8 goes and what Season 9 brings to the 'verse.

What about us? Us that likes the comics?
It's not that I believe that if Joss reads this thread he'll change his mind, but I don't get you no-sayers. Aren't you happy WE like it?
I know I come off as cruel and whiny, denying you guys the right to make your voices heard, but I don't get it.
Can't you just pretend Buffy & Angel ended after season 7 and 5 and say "Let the other fans have the comics, it doesn't bother me"? It seems like for a lot of people think the comics don't count anyway.
I'm sorry if I sound rude, but I'm too tired from homework to make it sound nice and cuddly.
Now I could start arguing why the comics are good, but if you think the show's "message"(for me it was about the characters, not a message) has changed too much and the plot's going nowhere(I love that it's not about the action and plot, but about the characters) I don't think I can convince you otherwise.
Different strokes.
I do want to protest against the idea that Joss is doing it for the money(because this could have gone south and his repetation could have been ruined in case the comics had failed, and I don't think anyone with a good career going would try to re-vive a old project unless he believed in it) but since I can't prove that Joss is in it for the story...

Well, I am right there with ya, I am not a big fan of Season 8 storylines, But I really want season 9 to restored my faith in the series (eg: smaller cast, um... anymore spoilers anyone?) and I can't ever wish for any Joss Buffy work to ever end, I want more good things to come of this... motion comics/Buffy the Animated Series anything....

Season Eight has been a huge success and downright revolutionary; a comic continuation of a TV show that actually manages to rival Marvel and DC. The past few months have been a little shaky, but that's partly us over-analysing things as fans. Objectively, it's one of the most consistantly good quality comics on the stands.
To want the series to be cancelled because it's not to your taste is totally selfish and unrealistic. Fair enough, maybe if it was widely despised by both fans and critics, but it's not. It's a good comic and a perfectly respectable part of the Buffy franchise. Surely you can respect that something is popular with others even if you don't like it yourself?
As far as Season Nine goes, I'd like it to have more focus and a faster pace (S8 has been dragging lately). There's definitely room for improvement, but it's hardly a lost cause.

Well, let's just hope Joss doesn't come across this thread. LOL! To say that he is in it only for the money is a horrible thing to say, and imo it couldn't be further from the truth! Anyone who has ever listened to Joss talk about Buffy, can tell just how much he loves the characters and the universe. He had more stories he wanted to tell, hence S8! Besides, Joss has so many projects going on simultaneously, that I hardly think he would need to continue Buffy in comic form simply to make money. Yes, money is a big perk, don't get me wrong, but I hardly think this was his sole motivation for continuing the series. I for one am glad that Buffy is continuing in comic form (I will take that over nothing any day!). I have enjoyed S8 as much as any other season of the show, and I, along with many other fans, hope for more to come.

Well, Joss said this to Buffy/Angel Magazine when Season Eight started:
"Well... I just don't want to be the guy scrambling to hold onto his little empire years later. You want to go out with class... well, I never had that, but some style anyway. Luckily, the book is turning out as good as I could have ever hoped. I don't feel like that guy yet. But if I ever start to, I'm heading for the hills."
I don't think we have to worry about Buffy outstaying it's welcome. (The canonical Joss version anyway, I'm sure the franchise will continue forever in some form, be it reboots/adaptations. That's just the nature of fiction, and we should accept it.)

XANDER: "Me like Buffy. Buffy not dead, me happy" well said. but i have agree with no season 9.....wait a second before you kill me! I love season 8 to death, and i think they shouldn't get rid of the title "season 8" and call the comics season 9. do you know what I mean?

Just ignore the book, then. Why ruin it for those of us who enjoy it?

Season Eight is my favorite title right now and I want a Season Nine. However, the only drawback is that comics move so slowly! They don't cost as much as TV shows AND it's not even live-action, but it seriously takes 4 years to cover what 8 months of TV can? It's ridiculous and it's my ONLY resentment for the series, not the story itself. The story is phenomenal in my opinion.

Well, I think the series kind of is just too out their now. I agree with the OP, Buffy is not like the buffy that was on TV. It's different. I think it's the format that's the problem. Comics are generally shallow or very convoluted. I think he should end it at season 8 and just make the movie everyone wants.

Then you haven't been reading the right ones. Took the words out of my mouth. *Karma* Only bad comics are shallow and convoluted. The hundreds and hundreds of discussion posts each issue gets on this board pretty much argues against shallowness. As for convoluted... they're as convoluted as any good story above the Dr. Seuss level. (Come to think of it, some of those Dr. Seuss stories were pretty convoluted too.)

I'm just gonna say it:
If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all
Looking at everything through a lens of negativity isn't a good way to go through life. If you find you aren't interested in something, don't spend your precious time on it. But moreso to the point, to wish others who find enjoyment in something to no longer have that thing that brings them joy is selfish and unrealistic, as Paul said above.

Comics are generally shallow or very convoluted. Someone hasn't been watching the Watchmen. Someone hasn't met Yorick. Someone hasn't taken the trip to Hell-A. Someone hasn't cuddled up in Craig Thompsons Blankets. Someone hasn't let the Sandman guide their dreams. Etc.

Although I disagree with the OP, I can partially see his point. I watched Buffy right from the start and when season seven finished I may well have referred to that as the end of an era, but there was a part of me that was slightly relieved. Although still good TV, it wasn't what it once was and other season of similar quality would have brought the average down. Of course back then I'd been spoiled by seven years of watching Buffy – I wish there had been another TV season now.
So if that's how you feel about the comic, I understand. You don’t have to buy it, but let others enjoy it. Perhaps you'll feel differently in the future when Buffy may be no more and you’ll be glad that there are issues for you to catch up with. Personally, I was delighted when season eight started and despite my current issues with it, I'll be delighted when season nine starts (and rather sad if that's the end).
