Ok i read after the fall and it was ok, a little over the top for me because i'm used to angel investigations having their small group of characters who are solving the mysteries around LA. But After the fall seemed like it just went over the top with all the bood and gore and the hellish scenery. Aftermath seems like it takes it back to the small-scale stories, but I'm not sure if I really want to try it though. Is it better than After the fall or worse? Why? Which characters are featured in this series?

If you prefer the Season 1-feel compared to the largeness of After the fall, read Aftermath.
Aftermath really brought me back to the early uncomplicated days of Angel investigations, and even tough the story or art didn't take my breath away, it was a nice safe read.
There's Connor, Angel, Gwen, Kate and some new characters(I might have forgotten a old character).
It shouldn't be that heard to buy all the comics cheap from someone here on the board or ebay, considering how many people complain about them.

If you like smaller groups, you will enjoy is more than others, but overall the story is stupid and the characters don't act like themselves. The art looks very bad, and I just don't even count it as canon. The main characters are Angel, Connor, Kate, and Gwen; Plus some new (stupid) characters created by the (aweful) Kelly Armstrong. Hope I helped.

Yes, but it doesn't count for the fact that her writing in Aftermath was very terrible

I think you should pick it up and make your own mind up, this guy has a review on it on youtube... www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fXq3dggTig&feature=channel_pageIt's not the best story around, and it doesn't bring much to the table in continuing the Angel story , the art is not the best for the likeness of any of the characters and the Cordy cameo was unpleasant and lack soul. But does show of the powers that be in a different spotlight.

Even though the PTB are shown as angels, which reminds me way too strongly of Supernatural, which honestly did a better job with them

I don't think it's possible to like "Aftermath" better than "After the Fall." It's like comparing "Moonlight" to "Angel." Really.

This is sounding disappointing. I haven't read aftermath yet. I'm still waiting on my Hardcover. I loved After the Fall so I hope Aftermath is not too disappointing.

It doesn't really sound worth reading. i once picked up an issue and the interiors didn't look bad, especially with that bedroom scene in the first issue I just haven't read the series and the main characters dont sound that great, i only really liked angel and gwen. What about illyria and gun, the only humans spinoff covers them but are they now separated from angel? What about spike? I know there's spoilers here but when it comes to comics i dotn really care about spoilers I just want to know if the comic is worth the money and time reading...

ONLY HUMAN is only a mini-series. Gunn and Illyria will be back as supporting character on the Angel title fairly soon, I think.
SPIKE is getting his own spin-off, but I'm pretty sure he's also gonna be in ANGEL.

Gunn was in a hospital bed for about a week after After the Fall ends (I think it's a week anyway); Illyria stays and protects him from the former Lords coming to kill all the people involved in L.A.'s magical reversal. Then Non magically heals Gunn and tries to cut a deal with him to go on a rampage again. Instead, Gunn takes her to an asylum for magical rehabilitation, then he and Illyria drive off and do the Only Human stuff that's going on right now (which by the way is amazing and should definitely be read). So their involvement in Aftermath is not so much. I don't think Spike has any major roles in Aftermath either, but I haven't finished reading it yet, so I don't know.

I hope Spike doesn't get over used... Not possible. Plus, he's been MIA for months. It's high time for some Spike action.

Bwahaha "not possible". He's been fine in the comics, but you're telling me you weren't a little sick of him during his last three Buffyverse seasons?

I know I was... but I like him much more in the Comics than I did in S5-S7/5.

He's been fine in the comics, but you're telling me you weren't a little sick of him during his last three Buffyverse seasons? I'm actually fine with how Spike was handled. He had a few too many sub-plots in S7, but it was all good. And he was an absolute breath of fresh air in Angel S5. After Cordelia's blandness the past two seasons, it was nice to have a character around to tell it like it is again. What annoys me isn't how he acts in the show itself, but people's reactions to him in the real world. If you mention Buffy to someone, all they'll say is "OMG, Spike was so hot" as if that was the only reason to watch the show. His face is slapped on every bit of merchandise too. He's too popular for his own good. Getting back on topic, I respect Aftermath for having the nuts to drop Spike and Illyria, and focus on less popular characters like Kate and Connor. Pity they ballsed up Kate's appearance.

I wonder how much of Aftermath's unpopularity is due solely to the artwork and the poor character design choices.
Looking back, the only parts of the story itself I remember really objecting to were Gwen's OOC portrayal as a needy puppy dog, and Cordelia's casual and gratuitous re-appearance.

I think Cordelia's appearance could have been nice, but it just required a lot more heart and soul that the two characters share for each other, and needed to finish on a high- not a merciless joke, it also need to look like her, what was with her short hair and 'Phasing' power? I find Kate, and Gwen (also Dez) all pretty offensive, their appearance, Storyline and behaviour, I find it very much out of character for them, can't see why they where used AT ALL really ...
